An electrical connector assembly includes: an insulative housing; a contact module received by the insulative housing, the contact module including a first pair of signal contacts, a second pair of signal contacts, and a ground contact between the first pair of signal contacts and the second pair of signal contacts; a first cable having a pair of signal wires terminated to the first pair of signal contacts and a second cable having a pair of signal wires terminated to the second pair of signal contacts; and a unitary ground bar having a first loop wrapping around the first cable, a second loop wrapping around the second cable, and an intermediate portion terminated to the ground contact.

Each of the upper contact unit and the lower contact unit includes a front/outer contact part and a rear/inner contact part each including a plurality contacts essentially composed of a plurality of differential-pair signal contacts and a plurality of grounding contacts alternately arranged with each other in a the transverse direction wherein the differential-pair signal contacts are stamped and formed from sheet metal and successively integrally formed with a plurality of insulative transverse bars via insert-molding while the grounding contacts are directly blanked from sheet metal and associated with corresponding shielding plates assembled to the insulative transverse bar.

The electrical connector includes a contact module received within an insulative housing. The contact module includes an upper contact unit and a lower contacts unit stacked with each other. Each of the upper contact unit and the lower contact unit includes a front/outer contact part and a rear/inner contact part each including a plurality of side by side arranged contacts integrally formed with a plurality of plastic tie bars at different positions via insert-molding. The contacts include a plurality of differential pair signal contacts and a plurality of grounding contacts alternately arranged with each other along a transverse direction. Each plastic tie bar includes an insulative primary part integrally formed with all contacts via a first insert-molding process, and a conductive secondary part integrally formed with the primary part and the grounding contacts via a second insert-molding process after the first insert-molding process.

A connector unit includes a contact module received within an insulative housing. The contact module includes an upper contact unit and a lower contacts unit stacked with each other. Each of the upper contact unit and the lower contact unit includes a front/outer contact part and a rear/inner contact part each including plural contacts integrally formed with plural insulative transverse bars via insert-molding. The contacts include plural differential pair signal contacts and plural grounding contacts alternately arranged with each other along a transverse direction. The electrical connector includes a contact module received within an insulative housing. The contact module includes an upper contact unit and a lower contacts unit stacked with each other. Each of the upper contact unit and the lower contact unit includes a front/outer contact part and a rear/inner contact part each including a plurality of side by side arranged contacts integrally formed with a plurality of plastic tie bars at different positions via insert-molding. An insulative front cover and an insulative rear cover are assembled upon the housing wherein the rear cover is forwardly assembled into the housing together with the contact module while the front cover is downwardly assembled upon the housing after the contact module has been assemble into the housing. The front cover is configured to comply with the curved resilient contacting sections of the contacts for lowering the impedance of the contacts thereabouts.

An electrical connector assembly comprising: an insulative housing with a front mating slot and a rear receiving cavity; a combo contact module assembly received within the receiving cavity and including a sideband contact module sandwiched between a pair of high speed contact modules; each high speed contact module including an upper unit and a lower unit assembled with each other in a vertical direction; each of the upper unit and the lower unit including a front subunit and a rear subunit; each of the front subunit and the rear subunit includes differential pair contacts alternately arranged with grounding contacts in a transverse direction; and a metallic grounding bar discrete from the grounding contacts mechanically and electrically connecting to the grounding contacts.

Electrical connector assembly with high speed double density contact arrangement

An electrical connector includes a housing and a pair of contact wafers. Each contact wafer includes an insulative plate and a plurality of contacts. The contacts include a plurality of grounding contacts and plural differential-pair contacts. Each contact includes a contacting section extending beyond a front edge of the plate, a tail section exposed outside of a bottom edge of the plate and a connecting section linked between the contacting section and the tail section. The plate includes a plurality of first through holes formed along the connecting section of each grounding contact, and a plurality of second through holes formed along the connecting sections of each pair of the differential-pair contacts. The first through holes and the second through hole are essentially offset from each other in both the first direction and the second direction which are perpendicular to each other.

Electrical connector with structure for reducing resonances

A card edge connector includes a longitudinal insulative housing, two rows of terminals and an insulative block fixed therein. The insulative housing includes two side walls and a card slot between the side walls and opening upward, the side walls defines grooves for receiving terminals and opening downward. Each terminal includes a retaining portion fixed in the groove, each row of the terminals including a plurality of signal terminals and a plurality of grounding terminals. Each signal groove loaded with the signal terminal is filled with the insulative block, the block fitly abuts against the retaining portion of the signal terminal.

An electrical connector includes a housing, a plurality of contacts located in each wall of the housing and having grounding contacts and differential-pair contacts, and a grounding bar. The grounding bar includes a pair of lower spring fingers respectively contacting lower regions of the ground contacts in a transverse direction, and a pair of upper spring fingers respectively contacting upper regions of the ground contacts in the transverse direction, an upper transverse bar linked between the pair of upper spring fingers along a longitudinal direction, a lower transverse bar linked between the pair of lower spring fingers along the longitudinal direction, the pair of upper spring fingers extend upwardly from the lower transverse bar and a transverse base having retaining device attached to a lower portion of the housing. The pair of lower spring fingers upwardly extend from the transverse base.

Electricial connector with structure for reducing resonances

A connector is provided that includes a plurality of wafers. Each wafer supports a terminal and adjacent signal wafers are configured so as to provide broad-side coupled terminals. A pair of signal terminals can be surrounded on both sides by ground wafers that offer shielding so as to help isolate one signal pair from another signal pair. The geometry of the wafers can be adjusted so as to provide a tuned transmission channel. The resultant tuned transmission channel can be configured to provide desirable performance at high signaling frequencies of 12-16 GHz or even higher signaling frequencies such as 20 GHz.

The QSFP-DD module has an internal printed circuit board defining a mating port at a front edge region, and a connecting port at a rear edge region, and plural sets of wires mechanically and electrically connected to the connecting port with a plurality of ground staples discrete from one another to secure the respective sets of wires to the printed circuit board. The pitch among the ground staples is essentially 3.38 mm, and the wires are connected to two opposite surfaces of the printed circuit board with the associated ground staples. The staples are arranged in rows along the transverse direction.

A connector is provided that includes a housing and the housing supports a plurality of wafers. A connector is provided with a pair of terminals configured to provide a differential signal pair. A ground terminal is positioned on opposing sides of the differential pair. The body of the differential pair is configured so as to bring the differential pair closer together. In an embodiment, the % coupling on the differential pair is increase at least 5% more than a design where the four terminals are positioned at a constant pitch between the tail and the contact.
