A method, composition and kit for straightening human hair. The method comprises applying an alkali relaxer to the hair and then neutralizing the hair with a hair neutralizing composition comprising at least one fatty acid or a quaternary derivative thereof. The kit comprises an alkali hair relaxer or components for preparing such a relaxer and the hair neutralizing composition.

Neutralizing hair composition

The present invention is directed to methods, compositions and kits for neutralizing alkaline hair. The present invention is also directed to methods, compositions and kits for straightening human hair. The methods comprise neutralizing the hair with a hair neutralizing composition comprising at least one fatty acid. The compositions comprise neutralizing compositions comprising at least one fatty acid. The kits comprise an alkali hair relaxer or components for preparing such a relaxer and the hair neutralizing compositions.

Neutralizing hair compositions and methods

A personal care or cosmetic product composition that includes from about 0.1% to about 99% of at least one ester of alkoxylated aromatic alcohol and fatty carboxylic acid, and from about 0.1% to 60% of at least one functional ingredient is provided. The functional ingredients in the composition may include active ingredients and additional ingredients. Especially suitable active ingredients are sunscreen active ingredients and antiperspirant active ingredients. Preferred compositions are sunscreen product formulations and antiperspirant products. In one preferred embodiment, the composition further includes at least one cyclomethicone compound present in the amount of from about 1% to 99% by weight of the composition. A method of improving the protection of human or animal skin or hair from radiation and a method of improving the protection of human or animal skin or hair from perspiration are also provided.

Compositions containing esters of aromatic alkoxylated alcohols and fatty carboxylic acids

Fatty alkoxylated esters consisting of diesters of aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids, formed by reacting the acid with a stoichiometric excess of one or more polyalkoxylated fatty alcohols. Non-aqueous compositions for topical application are also disclosed including one or more active ingredients, and an emollient agent of the fatty alkoxylated esters of the present invention.

Alkoxylated fatty alcohol dicarboxylic acid esters

An oil-in-water emulsifier composition including between about 10 percent and about 70 percent by weight of a blend of mono- and diester phosphates of alkoxylated fatty alcohols containing between about 12 and 22 carbon atoms and alkoxylated with between about 1 and about 50 moles of an alkylene oxide selected from the group consisting of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and mixtures thereof, wherein the mono- and diester ratio is between about 10:90 and about 90:10; and between about 90 percent and about 30 percent by weight of a blend of mono- and di-ester phosphates of fatty alcohols containing between 12 and 22 carbon atoms, wherein the mono- and diester ratio is between about 10:90 and about 90:10. Emulsifying waxes, oil-in-water emulsions and microemulsions, and topical compositions formulated therefrom are also disclosed.
