A process for installing the payload onto a subsea structure has the steps of affixing an adapter spool on to the subsea structure, deploying a plurality of winches in spaced relation to the subsea structure, connecting an end of a plurality of slings received on the plurality of sheaves to a plurality of winches, connecting an opposite end of the plurality of slings to the payload, lowering the payload in a direction toward the subsea structure, actuating the plurality of winches so as to draw the payload downwardly into a position on the subsea structure, and locking the payload onto the subsea structure. The adapter spool has a collar with a plurality of sheaves extending outwardly therefrom. The payload can be a capping stack and the subsea structure can be a blowout preventer.

Process and apparatus for installing a payload onto a subsea structure

A process for installing or removing a subsea structure in a non-vertical manner at a well includes securing a plurality of barges together in a linear formation in which one of the plurality of barges has a downline extending therefrom, connecting an end of the barges to a primary vessel, moving the primary vessel such that one of the barges is positioned over a target at or adjacent to the well, connecting a plurality of secondary vessels by plurality of mooring lines to an opposite end of the barges, tensioning the mooring line so as to fix the opposite end of the barges, positioning a deployment vessel away from the barges, deploying an ROV, manipulating the ROV so as to connect the subsea structure to the downline, and moving the downline and the subsea structure toward or away from the well.

Process for non-vertical installation and removal of a subsea structure

A subsea connection system has a subsea structure with a flow channel therein and a port at one end of the flow channel, a stab having a flowline connected thereto, and a frame affixed to the stab. The stab is adapted to engage the port of the subsea structure so as to allow a fluid to flow from the flowline into the flow channel. The frame has a hook portion that is engageable with a tool hanger of the subsea structure so as to support the stab in alignment with the port. The frame is pivotable about the tool hanger so as to move the stab toward the port. An actuator is cooperative with the stab so as to move the stab between a retracted position and an extended position.

Subsea connection system for connecting a hot stab of a flowline to a subsea structure

A process for killing a well includes drilling a first relief well and a second relief well toward the well, affixing a first relief well injection spool to the first relief well and affixing a second relief well injection spool to the second relief well, connecting a flowline to a flow channel of the first and second relief well injection spools, connecting a pipe to the first relief well injection spool so as to extend to a surface location, connecting a second pipe to the second relief well injection spool so as to extend to another surface location, and flowing a kill fluid through the second pipe such that the kill fluid flows through the flowline and into the flow channel of the first relief well injection spool so as to pass into the first relief well and into the well.

Process and system for killing a well through the use of relief well injection spools

A process for removing hydrate formations from a flowline includes connecting a manifold to the flowline, passing an inert gas across a pair of inlets of the manifold so as to create a reduced pressure across the pair of inlets that is less than a pressure of a fluid in the flowline, opening a valve between the pair of inlets and the flowline so as to expose the pressurized fluid in the flowline to the reduced pressure across the pair of inlets, disassociating hydrates in the flowline by exposure to the reduced pressure across the pair of inlets, and flowing the fluid and the disassociated hydrates from the flowline into the outlet of the manifold and outwardly of the manifold through at least one of the pair of inlets.

Process for remediating hydrates from subsea flowlines

A subsea blooming system and method of deploying a subsea blooming system includes a first buoyant module, a first line extending downwardly from the first buoyant module, a first ballast module affixed adjacent an end of the first line, at least one boom translatably connected to the first line, and a variable buoyant module cooperative with the boom. The first buoyant module is positively and non-variably buoyant. The first ballast module is negatively and non-variably buoyant. The boom includes a plurality of booms that are connected in end-to-end relationship in a desired array.

Subsea booming system and method for deploying a subsea booming system

A relief well injection spool for use in killing a well has a body with a pair of inlets opening to a bore on an interior of the body, a ram body cooperative with the bore of the body so as to selectively open and close the bore, an upper connector affixed to the body and adapted to connect the body to a lower end of a blowout preventer, and a wellhead connector affixed to a lower end of the body. Each of the pair of inlets has a valve cooperative therewith. The upper connector opens to the bore of the body. The wellhead connector is adapted to connect to a relief well wellhead. The wellhead connector also opens to the bore of the body. A floating vessel can be provided so as to deliver a kill fluid into at least one of the pair of inlets.
