A method for metering fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is provided, in which a fuel quantity to be metered for a combustion is metered by a preinjection and at least one additional injection, and in which, in the operation of the internal combustion engine, quantity errors of the preinjection are ascertained from the signal of at least structure-borne noise sensor. The method is distinguished in that a correction value is formed as a function of the quantity error of the preinjection, and at least one of the additional injections is corrected using the correction value. A control device is also provided that controls the method.

Method and control device for metering fuel to combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to an intermediate plate for a fuel injector, comprising a high-pressure through-hole which connects a high-pressure passage in a valve body and is connected to a high-pressure fuel reservoir, to a high-pressure space in a nozzle body, wherein the intermediate plate is arranged between the valve body and the nozzle body. In order to improve the injection behaviour of a fuel injector provided with the intermediate plate, in particular during multiple injection of small injection quantities, the high-pressure through-hole has a cross-sectional profile which improves the flow through the high-pressure through-hole from the valve body towards the nozzle body and impairs the flow in the opposite direction from the nozzle body towards the valve body.

A fuel injection valve for internal combustion engines, having a valve body with a bore defined on its end toward the combustion chamber by a conical valve seat, with a valve needle disposed longitudinally displaceably in the bore and a sealing face with two sealing portions on its end toward the combustion chamber with the second conical face being disposed on the combustion chamber side of the first conical face. An annular groove extending between the conical faces has an end facing away from the combustion chamber which acts as a sealing edge upon contact of the valve sealing face with the valve seat. Recesses embodied in the valve seat and/or on the valve sealing face hydraulically connect the annular groove with a portion of the second conical face located on the combustion chamber side of the annular groove.

A valve having a valve needle axially displaceable in a bore of a valve body and which has a conical valve needle tip having a radial valve sealing face, which in the closing position comes to rest on a conical inner wall of the valve body on the closed end of the bore. In the inner wall of the valve body there is at least one opening which connects the bore with the outside of the valve body. The valve includes two radial recesses disposed in the valve needle tip or in the inner wall of the valve body, and one of the radial recesses is located upstream and the other radial recess is located downstream from the position of the valve sealing face, in the closing position of the valve.

An injection valve for an internal combustion engine, including a valve control piston, a valve control chamber with an inlet throttle and an outlet throttle for actuating the valve control piston, a valve control unit, actuated by means of a piezoelectric actuator unit for controlling the valve control chamber, which valve control unit is embodied in valvelike fashion and has a valve closing member cooperating with at least one valve seat. To assure a high closing speed of the valve closing member, the valve closing member and the at least one valve seat are disposed in the valve control chamber.

An injection nozzle has a nozzle body, a nozzle needle that is supported displaceably in the nozzle body, a control chamber that communicates with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and a valve element that can open and close the fluid outlet. The control chamber is laterally defined by a displaceable ring which rests on the nozzle needle, and a closing spring presses the ring against the nozzle needle in fluid-tight fashion.

The fuel injection device has a high-pressure pump that supplies highly pressurized fuel to at least one high-pressure reservoir connected to injectors disposed in cylinders of an engine, wherein the injectors are connected to a common low-pressure reservoir. A pressure holding valve maintains a predetermined low pressure in the low-pressure reservoir. A pressure regulating valve regulates the pressure in the high-pressure reservoir by diverting fuel from the at least one high-pressure reservoir through a diversion connection into a low-pressure region. The diversion connection of the pressure regulating valve is connected to the low-pressure reservoir so that the low-pressure reservoir is filled with fuel.
