A ring sizer including a face plate that has markings usable to provide measurements of a valve. The sizer may include a clear face plate on which the markings are provided such that the valve is visible through the face plate facilitating accurate measurements of various valve dimensions and optimal ring sizing.

Annuloplasty ring sizer

An annuloplasty ring including elastic features that make the ring optimal for receiving a subsequent prosthetic valve via a 'Valve In Ring Procedure.' The elastic features provide a squeezing force on the native valve annulus that both ensures coaptation of the native valve leaflets and also prevents paravalvular leakage around a subsequently-placed prosthetic valve.

Annuloplasty ring for receiving a replacement valve

The present invention provides single sheet and compound para-xylene films for therapeutic uses. For example, the present invention provides single sheet para-xylene films useful as tissue separators and/or adhesion barriers in a subject, where the top and/or bottom surfaces of such films have a water contact angle between 75 and 95 degrees (e.g., to prevent adhesion formation). The present invention also provides compound films composed of at least two para-xylene polymer films with a therapeutic molecule layer in between. Such compound films, when used in vivo (e.g., as a tissue separator and to treat inflammation or atrial fibrillation) allow either therapeutic molecule elution through one of the para-xylene layers, or therapeutic molecule release when the compound film is pierced, such as when it is sutured in place.

Para-xylene films and therapeutic uses thereof

An annuloplasty ring having a three-dimensional discontinuous form generally arranged about an axis with two free ends that are axially offset. The ring is particularly suited for repair of the tricuspid valve, and more closely conforms to the annulus shape. The ring is more flexible in bending about radially extending axes than about the central axis. The ring may have an inner structural support covered by a pliable sleeve and/or a fabric tube. The structural support may have a varying cross-section, such as a C-shaped cross-section in a mid-section between two free ends and a rectangular cross-section at the free ends. A deliver template having a mounting ring with about the same shape as the ring facilitates implant, and may be releasably attached to a delivery handle. The deliver template may include a plurality of cutting guides for releasably attaching the annuloplasty ring thereto while presenting maximum outer surface area of the ring. The template may have an outwardly-facing groove to receive and retain the ring.

Annuloplasty ring with variable cross-section

Methods of remodeling an abnormal mitral valve with an annuloplasty ring having a reduced anterior-to-posterior dimension to restore coaptation between the mitral leaflets in mitral valve insufficiency (IMVI). The ring has a generally oval shaped body with a major axis perpendicular to a minor axis. An anterior section lies between anteriolateral and posteriomedial trigones, while a posterior section defines the remaining ring body and is divided into P, P, and Psegments. The anterior-to-posterior dimension of the ring body is reduced from conventional rings; such as by providing, in atrial plan view, a pulled-in Psegment. The ring body may have a downwardly deflected portion in the posterior section. The downwardly deflected portion may have an apex which is the lowest elevation of the ring body and may be offset with respect to the center of the downwardly deflected portion toward the Psegment.

Methods for repairing mitral valves

The present invention provides methods and devices for obtaining percutaneous access, maintaining hemostasis, and providing closure of openings in tissues of the body. In particular, the present invention provides methods and devices for maintaining hemostasis and providing closure surgical incisions of the left ventricular apex of the heart.

Three-dimensional annuloplasty ring

A sear for a shotgun trigger assembly is used to convert a pull trigger to a release trigger. The release trigger sear includes a second catch surface that holds the striker catch until the trigger is released. The sear having the second catch surface may be retrofit into an existing pull trigger assembly to convert the pull trigger assembly to a release trigger assembly without further modifications to the trigger assembly. The disclosure also provides a release trigger having an assembly that adjusts the pull and release weights of the trigger.

An apparatus for implantation in an annulus of a tricuspid valve. The apparatus has an anterior annulus aspect, a posterior annulus aspect, and an atrioventricular (AV) node located adjacent the anterior annulus aspect. The apparatus includes an ovoid main body portion. The main body portion has an anterior body segment adapted for placement adjacent the anterior annulus aspect, a posterior body segment located opposite the anterior body portion and adapted for placement adjacent the posterior annulus aspect, and oppositely disposed left and right side body segments extending between the anterior and posterior body segments. At least two valve leaflets are secured within the main body portion and are coaptable to permit unidirectional flow of blood. A cushioned section is attached to the main body portion, coextends with a portion of the main body portion, and is adapted for placement adjacent the AV node.

Annuloplasty ring with offset free ends

A mitral heart valve annuloplasty ring having a posterior bow that conforms to an abnormal posterior aspect of the mitral annulus. The ring may be generally oval having a major axis and a minor axis, wherein the posterior bow may be centered along the minor axis or offset in a posterior section. The ring may be substantially planar, or may include upward bows on either side of the posterior bow. The ring may include a ring body surrounded by a suture-permeable fabric sheath formed of a plurality of concentric ring elements or bands. The posterior bow is stiff enough to withstand deformation once implanted and subjected to normal physiologic stresses. A method of repairing an abnormal mitral heart valve annulus having a depressed posterior aspect includes providing a ring with a posterior bow and implanting the ring to support the annulus without unduly stressing the attachment sutures.
