A composite filler comprising thermally processed porous inorganic mixed particles of silica and at least one heteroparticle selected from the group consisting of zirconia, hafnia, or yttria and a polymer occupying the pores of the porous inorganic mixed particles, wherein the porous inorganic mixed particles are thermally processed at a temperature of from 650 to 900&#xb0; C., as well as a dental restorative comprising a resin and a composite filler, and optionally other fillers, wherein said resin has a refractive index that increases upon curing, and wherein the opacities of the both uncured and cured restorative are less than 45.

Porous composite filler compositions

The present invention relates to polymeric composites comprising inorganic fillers and organic, or organometallic, polymers. The filler compositions are used in the preparation of inorganic-organic polymeric composites, and, in particular, light curable composites. The composite fillers are used in dental applications, such as tooth restorations, for example, cavity fillings, adhesive compositions, veneers, crowns, bridges and teeth replacements. The inventive composition is a composite filler comprising porous inorganic particles having a diameter of 2-25 microns and a polymer occupying the pores of the porous inorganic particles, wherein the composite filler has a diameter of 2-25 microns.

A method for reducing toning spacing sensitivity in an electrophotographic process is disclosed. The method includes providing a rotating magnetic member within a conductive non-magnetic development sleeve; providing a developer to the non-magnetic development sleeve for use with the rotating magnetic member including: (i) composite magnetic particles comprising strontium ferrite and lithium ferrite phases and (ii) toner particles. The method further includes moving a charged receiving medium into a toner transfer relationship with the developer on the non-magnetic development sleeve so as to provide a developed image on the receiving medium with reduced toning spacing sensitivity.

The present invention relates to bioactive hetero-coagulated mixed materials that have high strength and durability, that are prepared using an aqueous process, and that have a high transparency when placed into a monomer, polymer, or resin of approximately the same refractive index.

The present invention is an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus which includes a primary imaging member for producing an electrostatic latent image, a development station for applying toner particles to said latent image which forms a developed toner image, and a transfer station for transferring said developed toner image from the primary imaging member to a receiver. The use of electrographic printing to prepare prints which have a desired tactile feel or raised information in a controlled manner by utilizing a developer having toner particle size larger than 50 microns volume average diameter and carrier particles larger than the toner particle size such that the volume average distribution overlap between the toner distribution curve and carrier particle distribution curve is less than 35% and the carrier and toner particles have a volume average diameter size differential equal to or greater than 5 microns or the ratio of carrier-to-toner volume average diameter exceeds 1.25.

The insulative, or non-conductive, layer between the fibers and the conductive plane of the brush prevent excessive current draw.

The present invention is a method for the preparation of electrostatographic toner including the following steps. A polymer material is dissolved in an organic solvent to form an organic phase. The organic phase is dispersed in an aqueous phase that includes a particulate stabilizer and a salt including an anion selected from chloride, oxychloride, sulfate, perchlorate, nitrate, dihydrogen phosphate, lactate, trifluoromethylsulfonate, and trifluromethylhydrate and a cation selected from aluminum, iron (III), tin (II) and zirconium (IV), to form a dispersion. The dispersion is homogenized. The organic solvent is evaporated from the dispersion and the resultant product is recovered, washed and dried. In an alternate method the salt is added directly to the dispersion.

Hard magnetic core particles for use in the development of electrostatic latent images are produced by combining ferric oxide, a strontium oxide precursor, an oxygenated boron compound and a binder to form a mixture, wherein the strontium oxide precursor is preferably present in an amount that provides SrO in a molar amount that is in excess of a stoichiometric amount that provides a ratio of FeOto SrO of 6/1. The mixture can be formed into green beads and the green beads can be fired to form the hard magnetic core particles.

Toners and developers are disclosed. The toner of the present invention contains at least one toner resin, at least one charge control agent, at least one surface treatment agent, and optionally at least one release agent and/or colorant. The toners of the present invention have excellent triboelectric stability over a wide range of temperatures and relative humidity environmental conditions. Further, the toners of the present invention have excellent charge to mass stability over long periods of time. Development systems and methods for developing electrostatic images with toner are further disclosed.
