A fluid deflecting baffle is provided for use on an electric motor to be used in an environment where liquid may otherwise pass through a vent opening in an endshield of the motor. The baffle is secureable to the endshield and extends in a partial covering relationship with the vent opening. The baffle includes a vent passage therethrough and has at least one liquid flow obstructing louver that extends across the vent opening to deflect liquid away from the vent passage while allowing venting air to flow through the vent passage. The louver includes a generally flat liquid deflection surface that is disposed at an oblique angle relative to the axis of the motor and at least partially faces a venting direction of incoming air and fluid.

A bracket for mounting a motor protector on an endshield of a motor comprises a tube sized and shaped for receiving the protector. The tube includes at least one integrally formed fastener for fastening the protector to the bracket. At least one integrally formed projection extends outwardly from the tube to facilitate fastening the bracket to the endshield of the motor.

An electric motor having a fan and baffle for directing a flow of cooling air through the motor while minimizing generation of noise. The fan has blades which are curved in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the fan. The blades are spaced from a hub of the fan thereby forming a clearance region to inhibit air flow shear and turbulence. The baffle has an annular shape with upstream and downstream faces for directing air flow. The downstream face is inclined so that air flowing along its surface has a component of motion in the downstream direction to inhibit separation of flow from the surface. The baffle is received in a casing of the motor with a slip fit.

A bearing system which inhibits fretting to extend the life of a bearing. The system is usable in a machine, such as an electric motor, and includes an elastomeric spring positioned between the bearing and a bottom surface of a bore in which the bearing is received. The spring member applies force to the bearing in both an axial direction and a circumferential direction to oppose rotation of the bearing in the bore. The spring member has an annular shape with a plurality of circumferentially spaced teeth.

A dynamoelectric device cooling air flow baffle is given a shape that increases its heat transfer and cooling efficiency by providing the baffle with an annular concave surface around its outer perimeter edge that redirects air flow radially inwardly around stator winding end turns while reducing separation of the air flow and also directs the cooling air flow around an inner edge of a center hole of the baffle while reducing separation of the air flow and increasing air flow velocity, thereby efficiently cooling the stator assembly of the dynamoelectric device.

An overspeed guard for an electric motor centrifugal actuator closely conforms to the peripheral contour of the component parts of the actuator and prevents the component parts from separating from the centrifugal actuator on overspeed of the actuator.

A dynamoelectric machine is provided with improved connection structure which does not require external leads and which provides an integral ground connection for the dynamoelectric machine. The dynamoelectric machine is a motor, which includes a stator assembly, having a motor winding which is terminated at the winding ends with quick connected terminals. The motor includes at least one end shield. A terminal receptacle is designed to mount internally of the motor endshield. The terminal receptacle includes provisions for holding the ground terminal positionally, and is provided with a spring loading mechanism for loading the receptacle against the endshield. The terminal receptacle has an external latch which receives an associated terminal block in locking arrangement, normally being accompanied with an audible signal. The receptacle preferably is color coded to give a visual indication as to motor rating or identifying different motor types, for example.
