Embodiments provide mechanisms for coupling rotor blade pitch to propulsion system tilt angle in an aircraft, and more specifically in electric aircrafts. A system may include a tiltable propulsion system configured to move between a first tilt angle and a second tilt angle, wherein the tiltable propulsion system includes a plurality of rotor blades each configured to move between a first pitch position and a second pitch position; a tilting mechanism coupled to the tiltable propulsion system and configured to move the tiltable propulsion system between the first tilt angle and the second tilt angle; a pitching mechanism coupled to one or more of the plurality of rotor blades and configured to move one or more of the plurality of rotor blades between the first pitch position and the second pitch position; and an actuator configured to operate both the tilting mechanism and the pitching mechanism simultaneously.

Blade pitch coupled to propulsion system tilt

Embodiments provide scissoring mechanisms for a vertical lift fan of an electric aircraft (e.g., a vertical take-off-landing eVTOL aircraft) where the blades of the vertical lift fan can be opened at almost zero speed. Exemplary scissoring mechanisms have position locking features that keep the collapsed blades in the low drag orientation once closed (e.g., in the stowed position). As a result, the scissoring mechanisms do not cause large impulses during opening and closing that cause large stresses and noise. In addition, the scissoring mechanisms provide an opportunity to check that the fans are opened properly prior to spinning them to the full operating speed. The scissoring mechanisms may not require an extra actuator, and rely on the propulsion motor.

Scissoring mechanisms deploying at low speed

A golf ball with embedded electronics to allow proximity to be tracked and to monitor golfer performance is disclosed. The golf ball comprises a processor connected to an accelerometer, communications circuitry, a spin detector, and memory, wherein the processor stores accelerometer data from the accelerometer and rotation data regarding rotation of the spin detector in the memory. The processor converts the data regarding the rotation of the spin detector into a rotation speed and a rotation direction, said rotation speed determined by a frequency of the data, and said rotation direction determined by a magnitude of the data. The communications circuitry is configured to communicate the accelerometer data, the rotation direction, and the rotation speed to a central interrogator for analysis of a golfer's performance.

A profiled rolling apparatus for lowering rolling resistance in track-guided, load-bearing movement applications. The rolling body, as part of a track roller, cam follower, caster wheel, or the like, has a radial groove (e.g. a V-shape with some internal angle) on which a non-linear profile is implemented. Profiles for various embodiments may be, but are not limited to, circular arcs, polynomials or other mathematical functions, or made up of multiple shorter linear and/or arc segments, creating a convex or concave contour on either side of the groove. Such crowning profiles may additionally or alternatively be implemented on the guiding track.

Systems and methods are provided for segmenting tissue within a computed tomography (CT) scan of a region of interest into one of a plurality of tissue classes. A plurality of atlases are registered to the CT scan to produce a plurality of registered atlases. A context model representing respective likelihoods that each voxel of the CT scan is a member of each of the plurality of tissue classes is determined from the CT scan and a set of associated training data. A proper subset of the plurality of registered atlases is selected according to the context model and the registered atlases. The selected proper subset of registered atlases are fused to produce a combined segmentation.

Child caretaking structures having adjustable canopies and/or headrests are described. An example canopy adjustment mechanism has a track with a plurality of indentations and a canopy. The canopy has a first canopy stay connector rotatably coupled to a canopy clip having a c-shaped cross-section. The canopy clip has a first end and a second end being at opposed ends of the c-shape and defining an opening therebetween. The canopy has a protrusion on the first end extending into the opening and toward the second end, wherein the protrusion is dimensioned to selectively engage a first of the indentations of the track to fix the canopy at a first height and is dimensioned to selectively engage a second of the indentations of the track to fix the canopy at a second height.

An interface facilitates user input of quantitatively weighted recommendations, including weighted factors in support of decision choices. A user input mechanism allows a user to specify a factor in support of a choice, and to specify values for quantitative parameters associated with the factor along two or more axes. An overall quantitative weight for the factor is generated based on the specified quantitative parameters. In one embodiment, a graphical user interface is presented, wherein the user specifies the values for the weighting parameters by dragging a movable indicator within an N-dimensional space. Each axis of the N-dimensional space corresponds to a weighting parameter. An overall quantitative weight for the factor is calculated, for example, as the product of the specified values along each of the axes. A visual indication of this calculation is presented, so as to provide an intuitive sense of the overall weight assigned to the factor.

An electrically conductive protective coating or film is provided over the surface of a reflective coating of a solar mirror by flowing or directing a cation containing liquid and an anion containing liquid onto the conductive surface. The cation and the anion containing liquids are spaced from, and preferably out of contact with one another on the surface of the reflective coating as an electric current is moved through the anion containing liquid, the conductive surface between the liquids and the cation containing liquid to coat the conductive surface with the electrically conductive coating.

The individual seeking advice posts a request for advice in the form of a decision question, or identifies a previously posted decision question. Visitors to the website can post secondary questions that are intended to assist the advice-seeker in making the decision. For each secondary question, the user posting the question can specify which choice for the decision question is recommended by each answer to the secondary question. The user can also specify a strength for the recommendation. The advice-seeker then inputs answers to the secondary questions. The advice-seeker can indicate a relative significance value for some or all of the answers. For each secondary answer, a score is generated. Scores are totaled and the results are provided to the advice-seeker to assist in decision-making.
