A dual-mode optical and RF reflector, and test system using the same. In one example the reflector is a mirror having a reflective surface including a first zone having a first surface precision, wherein a remainder of the reflective surface outside of the first zone has a second surface precision that is substantially lower than the first surface precision, the mirror being configured to collimate and reflect an RF signal from the reflective surface, and to collimate and reflect an optical signal from the first zone.

A multimode radiation source is disclosed. One embodiment includes a waveguide radiator and an orthomode transducer coupled to the waveguide radiator to provide a first signal to the waveguide radiator. The waveguide radiator is configured to receive the first signal and to radiate the first signal at a first location as a first spherical wave signal with a first phase center. The multimode source also includes transmission medium coupled to the waveguide radiator and configured to radiate a second signal and a third signal from the first location as a second spherical wave and a third spherical wave with substantially the first phase center.

A compact SAL seeker for a projectile guidance system comprises an optical sub-assembly to focus incident electro-magnetic radiation (EMR) such that target bearing in object space is mapped to a spatial irradiance in image space and a detector sub-assembly to generate at least one guidance signal in response to the position of the centroid of the focused EMR. The optical sub-assembly includes an integrated filter stack of a primary optical element, a spreader, a filter and secondary optical element in which at least one and typically both of the spreader and filter are immersed within the optical media of the stack. The detector sub-assembly may include a field lens in which the detector is immersed. Immersion reduces the number of 'air-to-glass' interfaces, hence improves optical throughput. The detector sub-assembly may be integrally formed with a mounting bracket adapted to mate with mounting features on the optical sub-assembly to provide a self-aligned seeker.

The disclosed system, device and method for spatial homogenization and focusing of electromagnetic radiation over an aperture to reduce the effects of atmospheric scintillation generally includes an optical lens having an at least partially undulating pattern mapped onto a curvilinear surface. Disclosed features and specifications may be variously controlled, adapted or otherwise optionally modified to eliminate or otherwise reduce the effects of atmospheric scintillation as well as other optical aberrations. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention generally provide improved systems and methods for the acquisition, tracking and engagement of military targets with missiles or other guided ordinance.
