Provided is an apparatus comprising a conductive particle interconnect (CPI). The CPI includes an elastomeric carrier and a plurality of conductive particles dispersed therein. The elastomeric carrier includes an electroactive polymer (EAP) configured to move between a first position and a second position in response to an electrical field. The CPI is configured to exhibit a first electrical resistance when the EAP is in the first position and a second electrical resistance when the EAP is in the second position. The apparatus further comprises one or more electrodes electrically coupled to the CPI. The electrodes are configured to generate the electrical field within the CPI. The apparatus further comprises one or more insulators coupled to the CPI. The one or more insulators are configured to constrain expansion of the CPI in at least one direction.

Conductive particle interconnect switch

Provided is an apparatus comprising a conductive particle interconnect (CPI) and an electroactive polymer (EAP) structure. The CPI includes an elastomeric carrier and a plurality of conductive particles dispersed therein. The EAP structure is disposed around at least a portion of the CPI. The EAP structure is configured to move between a first position and a second position in response to an electrical field. The CPI is configured to exhibit a first electrical resistance when the EAP structure is in the first position and a second, different electrical resistance when the EAP structure is in the second position.

Operating a redundant power supply regulator using a transition control signal including supplying an operating voltage through an ORing in the redundant power supply regulator, wherein the ORing is connected to a comparator configured to turn off the ORing in response to detecting a fault; receiving the transition control signal indicating that the redundant power supply regulator is transitioning to a reduced voltage, wherein the reduced voltage is less than the operating voltage; receiving the reduced voltage by the ORing; and supplying the reduced voltage through the ORing by using the transition control signal to prevent the comparator from turning off the ORing.

Operating a redundant power supply regulator using a transition control signal

A phase-redundant voltage regulator can include multiple regulator phases connected in parallel between a common regulator input and a common regulator output. Each regulator phase includes a voltage regulator that receives an input voltage and drives a respective output voltage. The voltage regulator also includes a plurality of linear regulators, each having a linear ORing device electrically connected between the regulator output of a respective regulator and an output of the linear regulator. The voltage regulator also includes an amplifier having inputs electrically connected to a remote voltage sense input and to a reference voltage input. An output of the voltage regulator is electrically connected to an input of the linear ORing device. The amplifier controls the linear ORing device to drive a voltage on the output of the linear regulator equivalent to a voltage on the reference voltage input.

Adding a voltage level to a phase-redundant regulator level

Switching between a dual switch topology and a bridge forward topology in a power converter includes: receiving an input voltage; providing, via the dual switch topology, an output voltage; determining that the input voltage falls below a first threshold; switching a path of the input voltage from the dual switch topology to the bridge forward topology; and providing, via the bridge forward topology, the output voltage.

A phase-redundant voltage regulator apparatus includes groups of regulator phases, each having a multi-phase controller (MPC) connected to each regulator phase. The MPC transfers, to control logic, phase fault signals and a pulse-width modulation (PWM) phase control signal received from each dedicated regulator phase of a phase group. Spare regulator phases include output ORing devices to limit current flow into spare regulator phase outputs. Output switching devices are configured to electrically couple spare regulator phase outputs to a common regulator output. Control logic is connected to the phase groups MPC and asserts phase enable signals to, transfers PWM phase control signals to, and receives phase fault signals from the spare regulator phases. The control logic electrically interconnects a spare regulator phase to a phase group including a failed regulator phase in response to receiving a phase fault signal from an MPC.

Sharing redundant regulator phases within a phase-redundant voltage regulator apparatus

A tamper resistant device comprises an internal component, such as an electronic device, and a latent battery that is connected to the internal component. An activator material is separated from the latent battery by a rupturable barrier that is adapted to rupture, shatter, or otherwise degrade in response to a stimulus associated with a physical tampering event. The activator material is a material that causes the latent battery to output electrical power when in contact with the latent battery. In some examples, the electrical power provided when the activator material contacts the latent battery is used to trigger a security response which can include transmission of an alarm signal and/or erasure of data stored by the internal component.

A method and circuit are provided for implementing voltage sense point switching for regulators. A regulator voltage sensing circuit includes at least two sense points enabling a regulator to compensate for voltage drop at the sense points and providing at least one of the sense points at a location to be switched. Switched loads have gains at the sense points to compensate for the voltage drop in a transistor switch at maximum load. A non-switched output is sensed and functions as an over-voltage protection to limit the transistor switch voltage drop.
