A process and related assemblies for delivering slush through a tube towards a patient. Obtaining an elongated container partially filled with slush with a port end that has a first port and a second port. Placing the first port in fluid communication with tubing for delivery of slush towards the patient. Placing the second port in fluid communication with a source of gas which may be air. Subjecting the elongated container to automated repetitive movements so that the slush in the partially filled elongated container moves against interior surfaces within the elongated container. Ideally, two different forms of repetitive motion are used to impose complex movement upon the slush within the elongated container. Applying a pressure gradient to cause slush to flow out of the first port towards the patient. The elongated container may be made from a slush bottle with a reversibly engaged cap with the two ports.

A sleeve kit comprising a container sleeve and a sleeve cap which may be engaged with the container sleeve to form a sleeve assembly that envelopes a slush container, the sleeve kit including an attachment system to allow the sleeve cap to be engaged with the container sleeve to form the sleeve assembly and then become disengaged so that the slush container may be removed from the container sleeve. The attachment system may be a single-use attachment system to allow the sleeve cap to be engaged with the container sleeve to form the sleeve assembly. The container sleeve may have a set of at least one vent which allows air to move from an open top end of the container sleeve to a space between a bottom of an inserted slush container and a bottom of the container sleeve to facilitate removal of the slush container from the container sleeve.

Sterile sleeve for use in the production of surgical slush

Methods and apparatus for producing saline slush for surgical applications. A mixture comprising water and salt within a receptacle is attached to an assembly for making surgical slush while imposing complex rotational motion upon the receptacle. The complex rotational motion including rotating the platform with the attached receptacle around a first axis that runs through the platform while rotating the platform around an orbital axis different from the first axis to impose a complex motion upon the fluid within the receptacle.

Producing sterile surgical slush using complex rotational motion

Methods and apparatus for producing saline slush for surgical applications. Producing surgical saline slush in a slush bottle that is a rigid or semi-rigid, high integrity, sturdy container that resists punctures and leaks to better maintain a sterile barrier and does not rely on having an external object placed in the fluid to mix the slush. Slush is agitated within the slush bottle. Slush bottle features are discussed which agitate and condition slush for use in medical procedures. The slush bottle may be rotated using a pair of rollers. A slush station may have one or more compartments for the production of slush and a basin shell for maintaining slush as slush in a basin. Specialized techniques for a vertical slush bottle are discussed.

Method of producing slush for surgical use through receptacle oscillation

Production of sterile therapeutic medium such as sterile surgical slush for use in surgery. A sterile slush container with a sterile sleeve assembly so that the outside of the sterile slush container remains sterile after placement in a non-sterile slush making machine so that the sterile slush container may be returned to the sterile field after removal of the sterile slush container from the sleeve assembly.

Use of sterile sleeve in production of surgical slush

Creation of surgical slush having desirable mechanical properties by chilling a closed slush container with liquid saline and an air gap. The closed slush container having interior surfaces that are smooth and hydrophobic to resist adherence of ice crystals. Moving the closed slush container so the contents move in a complex set of motions rather than constant rotation around a longitudinal centerline of the slush container as the liquid saline is converted into surgical slush with a mixture of liquid saline and ice crystals. Interior surfaces of the closed slush container move into and out of an air gap to help shed any ice crystals forming on the interior surfaces. In some instances, as the orientation of the closed slush container relative to gravity changes over time, different interior surfaces shed the ice crystals. An optional method for delivering surgical slush to the sterile field is included. The full range of the disclosure exceeds the scope of this brief abstract.

An apparatus and method for warming a medical scope to a temperature at or near body temperature in order to prevent fogging and remove debris. A system for warming medical scopes and a variety of other medical items is to be used in conjunction with a liquid warming device for heating sterile fluids. The anti-fogging apparatus is described with emphasis on the properties of said apparatus and its interaction with a liquid warming device with a removable basin. Also disclosed are various desirable aspects for an apparatus used to warm and clean medical scopes and other medical items before, during and after medical procedures.

Anti-fogging and cleaning apparatus for medical scopes

A series of implementations of open access sleeves for holding one or more closed containers of sterile fluid for use in medical procedures are disclosed. The open access sleeves may be adapted to provide heat to maintain the containers of sterile fluid above the ambient air temperature of the room. The provision of heat may be controlled by a control system. The control system may use a temperature measurement device to obtain a temperature representative of the container of sterile fluid and of the sterile fluid in the container. The access sleeve may be included in a device for maintaining an open volume of sterile fluid within a range of a target temperature to maintain the closed containers of sterile fluid at a temperature near target temperature for open volume of sterile fluid.

A liquid warming device for heating sterile fluids in a removable container is described with emphasis on the properties of the container interaction with the liquid warming device and with a drape that works with the container to maintain a sterile field above the drape and the top of the container. The interactions between a temperature sensor and a temperature well integrated in the removable container are disclosed. Also disclosed are various desirable aspects for a control system for a liquid warming device are provided. The liquid warming device can selectively employ a adapter in order to receive a container limited to a smaller diameter than the largest container diameter that can be accommodated by the liquid warming device. The small diameter container may receive a volume of sterile fluid so that the liquid warming device can maintain the sterile fluid in the small diameter container within a prescribed range of temperatures above ambient air temperature.
