A firearm sling includes a shooting rest. The shooting rest may include a bifurcated cavity filled with deformable media. The bifurcated cavity defines a trough along at least a portion of a length of the shooting rest. The firearm sling may be coupled to a firearm to facilitate carrying the firearm over a shoulder or across a torso, the shooting rest providing padding for comfort in carrying the firearm as well as a support for the firearm to improve marksmanship.

Spectral tuning of heat source to emit radiation at a desired frequency or frequency band is accomplished using metamaterials. The metamaterials include a structured geometry having holes with dimensions and spacing chosen such that the resulting surface will emit radiation in the desired spectrum. A collector can be made of a similar metamaterial or antenna array to detect the emitted radiation and transfer it to a converter device that converts the detected radiation to electricity. Embodiments also provide efficient coupling to the converter device for energy harvesting. Cooling of the converter devices can be accomplished using a cooling sink or deep space.

System for converting electromagnetic radiation to electrical energy using metamaterials

A material detector includes a pulse generator to generate pulses to excite molecules in the material and a detector to detect a signal generated from excited molecules in the terahertz region. Spectral features in the material are analyzed to identify the material. Detection can be performed using a nanoantenna array structure having antennas tuned to detect the expected spectral emission. The nanoantenna array can include antennas having MIM or MIIM diodes. Signal processing and statistical analysis is use to reduce false positives and false negative in identifying the material.

A substrate, resonant structures, a ground plane, a thermal optimization layer and energy transfer structures are combined to receive and convert incoming electromagnetic radiation into electrical energy. This combination of materials may be housed in various configurations near heat sources to maximize surface area for heat contact as well as cooling. All structures are designed so as to be manufactured in low cost processes such as roll to roll.

The system is very lightweight and much more portable than a conventional set of golf clubs. It also creates the opportunity for players to match club heads with shafts with differing performance characteristics. Additionally, it solves a problem for golfers using long shafts on putters. These long shafts can now be disassembled for storage and transport. A ramp on the circumference of one end of a pullback sleeve works in conjunction with a post on a grip end fitting to more tightly couple the club head end to a shaft.

The service bureau extracts the caller identification data from the ISDN Basic Rate Interface. Using the caller identification data, the service bureau tracks customer information and other marketing information. To perform its tracking function, the service bureau maintains and updates a database containing the customer information and other marketing information. The system is particularly useful for providing access to caller identification data to businesses that use telephone switching devices for telephone call routing.
