A pesticidal coating composition is provided which comprises an aqueous dispersion of at least one film-forming binder and at least one microencapsulated pesticide; wherein a coating prepared from such composition is substantially water-impermeable upon curing. The present invention further provides methods of coating substrates with the pesticidal coating composition, as well as substrates coated with the composition. The pesticidal coating compositions of the invention can be applied to substrates by professionals or non-professionals by spraying, painting, rolling, or brushing, before, during, or after construction.

Aqueous coating compositions

A process for making microcapsules may include i) forming a solution of a cross-linker in a liquid; ii) forming a slurry of a surface-modified particulate inorganic material in an aqueous medium; and iii) dispersing the solution of step i) in the slurry of step ii) and causing or allowing the cross-linker to react with the surface-modified particulate inorganic material so as to form a cross-linked microcapsule wall.

Microencapsulation

An encapsulated composition of (a) a pesticide at least active via ingestion that is photolabile, and (b) at least one photoprotectant, wherein the encapsulating polymeric barrier is base triggerable is disclosed. A method for controlling damage of a material by a pest by the use of such encapsulated compositions is likewise disclosed. The composition as disclosed gives protection for beneficial arthropods and reduces workers exposure.

Capsule formulation

A process for making microcapsules comprising i) forming a solution of a cross-linker in a liquid; ii) forming a slurry of a surface-modified particulate inorganic material in an aqueous medium; and iii) dispersing the solution of step i) in the slurry of step ii) and causing or allowing the cross-linker to react with the surface-modified particulate inorganic material so as to form a cross-linked microcapsule wall.

An insecticidal composition having as an adjuvant a phosphonate or an alkoxylated derivative or dimer thereof. Preferred phosphonates are bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-2ethylhexylphosphonate, bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-octylphosphonate and bis-(butyl)butylphosphonate.

Phosphonates and derivatives thereof as enhancers of the activity of insecticides

A product comprising microcapsules which themselves comprise (a) a polymeric shell; and (b) a core which comprises (i) a solid agrochemical dispersed in a matrix and (ii) a water-immiscible liquid characterized in that the matrix is distributed non-continuously throughout the water-immiscible liquid.

Formulation

A novel emulsion comprising a material which is stabilised by a polymer resin precursor having interface active molecules incorporated therein by reaction from poorly or non-surface active materials is disclosed. The process for producing such emulsions is likewise disclosed.

Emulsions

Reactive polymeric surfactants are disclosed, and their use in processes for preparation of microcapsules, and in stabilising emulsions. The surfactants are random graft polymers or block copolymers which contain both hydrophobic and hydrophilic units and in which the hydrophobic unit includes a hydrophilic cross-linking unit which reacts with (a) a wall forming ingredient in a microencapsulation process, or (b) an ingredient in the disperse phase of an emulsion.
