A system and method for providing items to users and, more particularly, a system and method for rating items and placing such items into a queued list. The method includes providing an item from a web browser to a recipient on a preferred list and placing the item into a queued list with respect to other items based on a rating. The system includes a computer infrastructure being operable to provide a rated item from a web browser to a recipient on a preferred list and place the rated item in a queued list with respect to other items.

System and method of creating and rating items for social interactions

An improved solution for managing use of a plurality of wireless devices is provided. In an embodiment of the invention, a usage policy is obtained for the plurality of wireless devices. Usage data for one or more of the plurality of wireless devices is compared against the usage policy, wherefrom an exception report is derived and created. In another embodiment, the exception report is analyzed for non-compliance and a customer is notified.

Method for managing wireless devices using exception monitoring

A grid-enabled ANT system that includes ANT XML task files that can run on both grid-enabled machines or stand-alone computers is disclosed. A network file server is used to store files accessed during the build process, and ANT's standard XML tagging and parameters are used, thus enabling the user to use a standardized format for entering XML information. This grid-enabled ANT is transparent to the user since ANT parses the tasks and automatically sends jobs to the grid, when appropriate, instead of the user deciding which tasks to implement as grid tasks.

Managing wireless devices using access control

An improved solution for managing wireless devices that uses lifecycle analysis is provided. In an embodiment of the invention, the method for managing wireless devices includes obtaining data regarding at least one new wireless device; automatically evaluating a feasibility of redeploying at least one of a plurality of pre-existing wireless devices, based on the data regarding the at least one new wireless device; and identifying a distribution for the at least one of the plurality of pre-existing wireless devices, based on the automatically evaluating. In another embodiment, the distribution may include cascading and/or retiring the pre-existing wireless device(s).

Method for managing wireless devices using lifecycle analysis

Servlets within a web server maintain state information concerning requests made by users of the server. The servlets associate each user with an HTTP session object. The session object is configured to include information that identifies the last-N web pages requested by the user. Periodically, or in response to a triggering event, the server analyzes the contents of the session objects, for example by tabulating the frequency with which each web page has been requested in the recent past. From the results of the analysis, web-page caching priorities are determined, and the contents of the server's cache are altered accordingly.

The computing apparatus comprises a scheduler software tool and a plurality of audio/video data files stored on a computer readable medium. Each cache storage device is adapted to dynamically receive and store an associated audio/video data file from the plurality of audio/video data files for transmission to each associated projection apparatus according to a schedule generated by the scheduler software tool.

Distribution system and method

A method, system, and program for query meaning determination through a grid service are provided. A search service within a grid environment receives a free text string as a search query, wherein the free text string includes multiple specifications. The search service controls distribution of the free text string to a selection of grid components, wherein each of the selection of grid components is enabled to interpret a particular aspect of the meaning of the multiple specifications in the free text string. Multiple aspect interpretations of the free text string are received at the search service from the selection of grid components. Next, the search service synthesizes the aspect interpretations into a search-ready query, such that the search request is first interpreted by the selection of grid components to determine a thorough meaning of the free text string before submission to a search engine.

Query meaning determination through a grid service

A method for providing secure access to information held in a shared repository, for example to electronic business cards stored on a server. A data owner registers with the server and provides information to be shared with selected data users. The server returns public-key cryptography keys. To access the information, a data user sends its public key to the data owner. The data owner encrypts the public key using the data owner private key, and sends the result to the server, along with permission to transfer information to the data user. The server decrypts the received result using the data owner public key, and compares the outcome with the data user public key. If they match, the server records permission on an access list. In response to a request for information the server checks the access list to determine whether the data user has permission. If so, the server encrypts the information using the data user public key, and transfers the result to the data user.

Method for providing secure access to information held in a shared repository

A method, system, and program for coordinating use of independent external resources within requesting grid environments. A external resource dispatcher receives requests for use of external resources. The external resource dispatcher controls the dispatch of a pool of external resources hidden from the grid management systems of requesting grid clients. In particular, the external resource dispatcher coordinates dispatch of a selection of the external resources for temporary registration with a requesting grid client management system. The requesting grid client management system registers the external resources for use within the grid client and monitors whether the external resources are still needed. When a requesting grid client no longer needs a dispatched external resource, the external resource dispatcher controls detachment of the dispatched external resource and returns the external resource to the available pool of external resources.
