A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for detecting and mitigating signal interference due to passive intermodulation at a base station. Generally, when antennas are configured to transmit at two or more different bands or frequencies, particular combinations of frequencies can introduce passive intermodulation at one of the corresponding receive bands or frequencies. Passive intermodulation is exacerbated, in some instances, due to the presence of non-linearities in the RF path. Embodiments can be configured to automatically detect the presence of passive intermodulation in one of the receive bands or frequencies and dynamically mitigate the affected receive signal to maintain optimal system performance.

An antenna system for a wireless network that provides multi-band and/or multi-sector operation from a single location is provided. The antenna system may provide improved control and adjustment of antennas contained within a compact design to allow sectors of coverage provided by the antennas to be modified to accommodate different cell site parameters that may otherwise have been satisfied using a more distributed arrangement of antennas.

The invention is directed to methods and systems for adjusting the vertical beam width of an imbalanced antenna. In one embodiment, first and second antenna arrays are imbalanced because one of the arrays has at least one more radiating element than the other. The additional gain created by additional radiating element(s) distorts the beam and alters the coverage area of the corresponding array, in embodiments. The tilt of the array having at least one more additional radiating element(s) is modified using phase shifting technology and based on the tilt of the array having fewer elements. By modifying tilt of the array having at least one more additional radiating element(s), the upper 3 dB points of the first and second array may be aligned to correct for the distorted beam and altered coverage area between the first and second arrays.

Systems and methods for adjusting vertical beam width

Detection and mitigation of signal conflict, such as a primary synchronization signal conflict, between broadcast cells in a wireless communication network is provided. Multiple broadcast cells may be provided in the network to provide sectors of coverage. A mobile communication device may operate within the network and attempt to attach to one or more of the broadcast cells. A synchronization signal conflict between neighboring broadcast cells may be identified and mitigated using one or more adjustments to the broadcast cells or signals emitted therefrom, which may allow for improved network performance, among other benefits.

Devices, systems, and methods for providing improved network performance in wireless communications networks using intelligent radiation selection are provided. A radio is communicatively coupled to an antenna and configured to provide a signal to the antenna for broadcast from a cell site. One or more input components are communicatively coupled to the radio to provide information on at least one of an internal or an external condition of the antenna, so that the radio can adjust or modify the signal provided to the antenna to change an emitted pattern of radiation from the antenna to reduce signal loss, or recover or help maintain an area of coverage provided by the antenna.

A wireless access point to dynamically controls power amplifiers. The wireless access point wirelessly exchanges media communications using a plurality of frequency bands. The wireless access point monitors an internal temperature in an enclosure and determines that the internal temperature is above a temperature threshold. The wireless access point monitors traffic loading on each of the plurality of frequency bands exchanging media communications and selects a frequency band with a low traffic level. The wireless access point redirects the media communications to a frequency band having a higher traffic loading level and disables a power amplifier associated with the selected frequency band having the low traffic loading level.

Systems and methods for performing UE handover based on group delay variation include a base station (i) selecting a target neighbor sector from a plurality of neighbor sectors for the handover, where each neighbor sector has a group delay metric, and where the target neighbor sector is selected from the neighbor sectors based at least in part on each neighbor sector's group delay variation and (ii) initiating handover of the UE to the target neighbor sector. Some embodiments include creating a neighbor relations table (NRT) comprising at least some of the neighbor sectors, and prioritizing the NRT based on group delay and/or group delay variation. In some embodiments, selection of the target neighbor sector for the handover is additionally based on neighbor sector handover success rates and Reference Signal Receive Power (RSRP) values for neighbor sectors reported by the UE for which the handover is to be performed.

A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for mitigating signal interference at a base station. Signal interference can be generated from subcomponent levels at a base station (e.g., electronic antenna motors) due to non-optimal designs or electric ground interferences. Generally, when power is provided to such subcomponent(s), a noise or harmonic can be inadvertently generated, falling into one of the operating bands of the base station, and negatively impacting system performance. As such, embodiments can be configured to dynamically ascertain a noise baseline associated with the base station, determine that one or more of the subcomponents are at fault for interfering with the base station operating band(s), and mitigate the interfering signal for a period that least impacts system performance.

Dynamically mitigating external interference in multi-band antenna systems

According to the present disclosure, a base station may be configured to serve a user equipment device (UE) over two or more beams using different modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) in response to determining that another base station is concurrently serving another UE at nearly the same location. For instance, a first base station may initially serve a first UE over two beams using the same MCS on both beams. The first base station may then determine that a second base station is serving a second UE at nearly the same location. And in response, the first base station may then change the MCS on at least one of the two beams so that the first base station then serves the first UE using different MCSs on the two beams. Serving the first UE with different MCSs concurrently on multiple beams may help to improve the first UE's reception.

Method and system of serving a user equipment device using different modulation and coding schemes

Systems, methods, and software described herein provide enhancements for monitoring communication data for multiple applications on a wireless device. In particular, a wireless access node is configured to monitor signal to noise data for a first frequency band from a second frequency band. When the signal to noise data meets noise criteria, the access point schedules observation periods in the first frequency band to determine intermodulation distortion for the first frequency band from the second frequency band. Based on the intermodulation distortion meeting distortion criteria, the access point schedules the second frequency band to transmit data only when the first frequency band is neither transmitting nor receiving data.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for detecting cell site component faults are provided. An unmanned aerial vehicle may be utilized to collect heat signature information about remotely located cell towers. The heat signature information is analyzed to detect any anomalies at the remote cell site that may indicate an antenna, radio, or cable connector are malfunctioning or need repair, for example. When an anomaly is detected, an indication of the anomaly and information to identify one or more components that correspond to the anomaly are communicated.
