Bluetooth Low Energy nodes are serially-connected with a cable that includes power lines and can include communication wires. The nodes do not have individual batteries. Instead, a single common power source is connected to the wires to provide power for all the nodes. The nodes can also be connected in series with the communication wires (which can be the same as the power wires) along a length of the cable. A headend interface can also be connected at one point of the cable to provide a communication interface with the nodes. The nodes can transmit and/or receive beacons to be used for locationing of mobile devices.

The present invention relates generally to methods and systems for determining a class of power delivered via power sourcing equipment ('PSE') utilizing power over Ethernet ('POE') technology. Described is a method including operating an network device at a first power setting, increasing a power requirement of the network device, detecting a second power setting based on an amount of power available from a power source, the second power setting being greater than the first power setting, determining whether one or more resources of the network device is operable at the second power setting, operating the network device at the second power setting if the one or more resources is operable, and activating an alert if the one or more resources is not operable. Further described is a system including a network device operating at a first power setting, the network device increases a power requirement, a power source providing an amount of power to the network device at a second power setting, the second power setting being greater than the first power setting, and a server determining whether one or more resources of the network device is operable at the second power setting, wherein the network device operates the at the second power setting if the one or more resources is operable, and the network device activates an alert if the one or more resources is not operable.

Described is an apparatus for releasably coupling an electrical component to a circuit board comprising a frame and at least one tab. The frame releasably couples to the electrical component and circumscribes at least a portion of a perimeter of the electrical component when coupled thereto. The at least one tab mates with a tab receiving slot in the circuit board to releasably couple the frame to the circuit board. When the electrical component is coupled to the frame, a portion of the electrical component opposite the circuit board is exposed.

Described is a ceiling mount for a device comprising a channel member and a latch. The channel member includes a side surface extending upward a first predetermined distance from a top surface of a housing of the device and a horizontal surface extending for a second predetermined distance away from the side surface in a direction substantially parallel to the top surface to define a first ceiling member receiving channel between the horizontal surface and the top surface. The latch is rotatably attached to the top surface. The latch defines a second ceiling member receiving channel between the latch and the top surface, so that when rotated, the latch covers the second ceiling member receiving channel.

Described is a device which includes a housing, a chimney and a heat dissipation element. The housing includes at least one heat generating electric component mounted within an interior space thereof. The chimney extends from a proximal end surrounding a space adjacent to the at least one component through an opening in the housing to a distal end outside the housing. The heat dissipation element is attached to the distal end of the chimney and separated from the housing so that heat from the at least one component travels through the chimney to the heat dissipation element from which it is dissipated.

A method and system for connecting a user identification module to a wireless host device are described. The user identification module is inserted in an accessory card that fits in the host device, and includes a radio transreceiver to connect to a wireless network. When the accessory card is placed in the host device, a mating surface of the host device blocks removal of the user identification module from the accessory card. The accessory card may be connected to the host device by inserting in a slot of the host device an edge of the accessory card from which extends an interface.

A bar code reader has an integrated scanning component module which is mountable on a printed circuit board. In one embodiment, the module may include the digitizer/decoder electronics, enabling the module to be used with a generic PCB. This invention is directed to a memory card assembly having a first end connected to a host device and a second end connected to a retractable antenna assembly. The memory card assembly includes a radio for two way communications between the host device and a remote location. The antenna assembly comprises a housing for two antennas and two light emitting diodes (LEDs) that indicate the status of the radio. The two antennas and the two LEDs are connected to the memory card circuit board through two dual function connectors that concurrently pass analog and digital signals.

The multilayer circuit board has a ground plane disposed between a plurality of analog circuit layers and a plurality of digital circuit layers. The ground plane is connected by through vias to ground traces on the surfaces of the circuit board.
