In some implementations, an insect trap includes a plurality of individual cells, with each of the cells being configured to trap very few, and in some instances a single flying insect. Each cell defines a cavity and may be provided with an independently operable door to selectively close the cavity. One or more sensors may sense the presence of an insect to be trapped.

Circuit connectors comprising liquid metal and methods of manufacturing such circuit connectors are provided. An example circuit connector includes a stretchable housing including liquid metal having a first viscosity, where the stretchable housing includes a first opening associated with a first end of the stretchable housing. The circuit connector may further include a first gas permeable plug inserted in the first opening, where the first gas permeable plug is not liquid permeable with respect to any liquids having at least the first viscosity.

A disposable modular patella protector and clamp is disclosed, providing the ability for a surgeon to shift the procedure sequence of the implantation of the patella from the end of a total knee replacement procedure to anytime during the procedure by providing a modular clamp that holds and protects the patella prosthesis and prepared patella. The clamp may be positioned in a manner in which it does not obstruct the patella or the prosthesis, allowing the surgeon to attend to other elements of the procedure while the bone cement is allowed to cure.

The physical 3D renderer described herein renders one or more captured depth images as a physical 3D rendering. The physical 3D renderer can render physical 3D surfaces and structures in real time. In one embodiment the 3D renderer creates a physical three dimensional (3D) topological surface from captured images. To this end, a depth image of a surface or structure to be replicated is received (for example from a depth camera or depth sensor). Depth information is determined at a dense distribution of points corresponding to points in the depth image. In one embodiment the depth information corresponding to the depth image is fed to actuators on sliding shafts in an array. Each sliding shaft is adjusted to the depth in the depth image to create a physical 3D topological surface like the surface or structure to be replicated.

A patella protector may be positioned in a manner in which it does not obstruct a patella or a prosthesis, while providing protection for the patella from accidental damage during a surgical procedure, such as a knee replacement. The patella protector may be a clamp with two contact surfaces connected by a stainless steel connecting element providing an inward bias to hold the contact surfaces against the patella.

In one embodiment, a carriage for carrying a fluid ejector cartridge includes: a body having a bay therein for holding a fluid ejector cartridge; a pump mounted to the body; a retaining cover connected to the body, the cover movable between an open position in which the cartridge may be installed in or removed from the bay and a closed position in which the cover contacts the cartridge in the bay to help retain the cartridge in place in the bay; and a port disposed within the cover such that the cover port is connected to a port on the cartridge when the cartridge is installed in the bay and the cover is in the closed position, the cover port operatively connected to the pump so that a fluid may be pumped into the cartridge through the cover and cartridge ports.

An apparatus and method print onto a portion of a medium with one or more print units in a printing orientation and pivot the one or more print units about one or more axes non-parallel to the portion from the printing orientation to a servicing orientation.

A printing device includes a supply of colorant and a mechanism. The mechanism is receptive to removable insertion of a first print cartridge and a second print cartridge. One of the first print cartridge and the second print cartridge can be inserted into the mechanism at any given time. The first print cartridge at least ultimately uses the supply of colorant of the printing device to form the images on the media. The second print cartridge has a self-contained supply of colorant that is exclusively used in lieu of the supply of colorant of the printing device to form the images on the media.

A device is disclosed. In one example embodiment, the device includes a fluid ejection mechanism, a reservoir, and a pump configured to pump fluid between the fluid ejection mechanism and the reservoir. A vent chamber is fluidly coupled to the reservoir.

Apparatus and methods are provided. A fluid-ejection device connector has a body having a plurality of internal channels, a plurality of flexible first couplers protruding from an exterior portion of the body, and a plurality of second couplers protruding from another exterior portion of the body. The internal channels respectively fluidly couple the flexible first couplers and the second couplers.

A sensor configuration for use in detecting ink droplets ejected from an ink drop generator is provided. The sensor configuration includes a sensing element configured to receive a biasing voltage which creates an electric field from the sensing element to the ink drop generator. The sensor configuration also includes a sensing amplifier coupled to the sensing element, whereby the sensing element in imparted with an electrical stimulus when at least one ink droplet is ejected in the presence of the electric field, and thereafter passes in close proximity to the sensing element without substantially contacting the sensing element. Sensor configurations with a separate electrically biasing element which may or may not contact the ink droplets are also provided. Additionally, a printing mechanism having such sensor configurations and a method of making ink drop detection measurements are also provided.

Ink drop detector configurations

A bulldozer-type cleaning system is provided for removing ink residue from an electrostatic drop detecting sensor which detects ink droplets contacting the detector. A scraper head scrapes the ink residue from the sensor, and then contacts a flexible, compliant cleaning member, illustrated as a coil spring. The spring is secured at each end and is stretched when pushed by the scraper head. This stretching flexation allows the spring to trap the ink residue between the coils. As the scraper head retracts, the resulting contracting flexation of the spring squeezes the ink residue from between the coils. Any ink residue remaining on the coils dries and then flakes off the coils when the spring is stretched again during the next cleaning stroke of the scraper head. An inkjet printing mechanism having such a cleaning system, and a method of cleaning a sensor are also provided.

Bulldozing cleaner for inkjet electrostatic drop detectors

A waste ink removal system for cleaning ink residue from an ink drop sensing belt in a printing mechanism is provided. The waste ink removal system has a base, an actuator coupled to the sensing belt, and an ink removal member, supported by the base, which removes ink residue from the sensing belt when the sensing belt is moved by the actuator. A method for drop detection, and a printing mechanism having such a waste ink removal system are also provided.
