Provided are devices for coating a contoured surface or a three-dimensional structure, and methods of making and using the same. The devices have geometries that are in point contact with the contoured surface. The geometries are substantially rigid and are provided by a flexible applicator. In this way, the flexible applicator permits conformance to the surface contours, along with rigid point contact that provides uniform and consistent coverage of liquid material. Specifically, the devices comprise a handle and an applicator pliantly affixed to the handle, the applicator comprising a plurality of spaced geometries. The devices meter film-forming coating liquids onto contoured surfaces or three-dimensional structures to form uniform coatings and resulting uniform films.

Devices for coating contoured surfaces

Disclosed herein is a sectional warming blanket for patient warming having a structure comprising a first layer of material forming a bottom layer with openings to allow a profusion of air through the bottom layer, a second layer of material forming an upper layer wherein the upper layer is coupled to the bottom layer via a plurality of seals to form a plurality of interconnected air passageways, and an inlet located on the upper or bottom layers. In an embodiment, the sectional warming blanket further comprises an opening configured to receive a coupling device for coupling the sectional warming blanket to an additional sectional warming blanket. In another embodiment, the sectional warming blanket further comprises at least one outline formed from a portion of the structure, such that a section can be removed from the blanket and the blanket is re-sealed by a bonding mechanism along its periphery.

Hand tearable sheets and method for manufacturing same

A method of providing an easy-clean, water-sheeting coating on a substrate includes: abrading a surface of a substrate using an abrasive article to provide an abraded surface having a surface roughness R?a#191 in a range of from 100 nm to 3500 nm, contacting a coatable composition with the abraded surface, and removing water from the coatable composition. The coatable composition comprises silica nanoparticles and has a pH of 7.5 or less. A kit including the abrasive article and the coatable composition is also disclosed.

Easy-clean surface and method of making the same

A coating composition is provided comprising a) an aqueous dispersion, having a pH of less than 7.5, of silica nanoparticles having average particle diameters of 40 nanometers or less, b) an alkoxysilane oligomer; c) a silane coupling agent, and d) optionally a metal &#x3b2;-diketone complexing agent. The compositions may be used to prepare coated articles wherein the coating is substantially uniform in thickness, durably adheres to the substrate, and provides hydrophilic and/or antireflection surface properties to the substrate.

Silica coating for enhanced hydrophilicity

A thermally conductive LED assembly is disclosed. The thermally conductive LED assembly includes an elongate conductor cable having a first conductor and a second conductor extending along a length of the elongate conductor cable and a thermally conducting and electrically insulating polymer layer disposed between first conductor and second conductor and a second electrically insulating polymer layer is disposed on the first conductor or second conductor. The electrically insulating polymer layer having a thermal impedance value in a range from 2.5 to 15 C.&#xb0;-cm2/W and a plurality of light emitting diodes are disposed along the length of the elongate conductor cable. Each light emitting diode is in electrical communication with the first conductor and the second conductor.

Thermally conductive LED assembly

A protection sheet and method of protecting a substrate is disclosed. In an embodiment, the protection sheet comprises an adhesive coated nonwoven material. In an embodiment a surface of the protection sheet captures and retains paint overspray, dust, dirt and other contaminants so as to provide a cleaner paint job. In an embodiment the protection sheet may be laminated to a second nonwoven or woven material to allow clean removal after extended use. The protection sheet may be used to protect horizontal or vertical substrates, and is particularly suited to protect the surfaces of a paint booth used in automotive spray-painting operations.

An adhesive tape comprising a backing and a layer of adhesive on the backing. The backing comprises a biaxially oriented substrate which comprises an isotactic polypropylene composition. The tapes and backings of this invention can be severed readily using commercial tape dispensers having metal or plastic cutting teeth to produce cleanly serrated cut edges on the tape. The biaxially oriented substrate is preferably made from a resin comprising an isotactic polypropylene homopolymer having a melt flow rate greater than 8 grams/10 minutes, more preferably greater than 12 grams/10 minutes, and still more preferably greater than about 20 grams/10 minutes. A flexible window is formed by a multi-layer sheet having a transparent flexible base layer and one or more transparent flexible protective layers, wherein the protective layers have a greater abrasion resistance than the base layer. The base layer and the protective layers are formed of substantially plasticizer-free polymeric materials.

A multi-layered biaxially oriented film comprising at least one primary layer and at least one secondary layer, wherein the primary layer comprises a propylene copolymer having a first melting point and the secondary layer comprises a polypropylene homopolymer or copolymer having a second melting point, such that the second melting point is greater than the first melting point and the multi-layered construction is biaxially stretched. Embossed oriented thermoplastic films and a method of making same are described. The embossed oriented thermoplastic films have substantially the same mechanical properties as unembossed oriented thermoplastic films. The method includes providing an oriented thermoplastic film having first and second major surfaces, softening at least one of the first and second major surfaces to produce a softened surface, embossing the softened surface to produce an embossed oriented thermoplastic film, and cooling the embossed oriented thermoplastic film.
