Embodiments include radio transmitters, receivers and methods of operation for enhanced bandwidth utilisation. The transmitter hashes received data blocks to produce indices associated with the received data blocks. The data blocks and associated indices are stored in memory and transmitted. If the received data blocks have previously been stored, the indices are transmitted instead of the data blocks. The receiver stores the received data blocks and associated indices in memory, and outputs the received data blocks. When the receiver receives indices instead of data blocks, it accesses the memory to look up and retrieve the associated data blocks, and outputs the retrieved data blocks.

Wireless traffic optimization for ISM radios

Embodiments include radio transmitters, receivers and methods of operation for enhanced bandwidth utilization. An antenna alignment tool and method for use by a user to align a near end antenna to a far end antenna. Embodiments of the tool include an interface, instrumentation, display, control and hands-free attachment structure. The interface receives location information representative of a location of the far end antenna with respect to the near end antenna. The instrumentation provides information representative of the location and orientation of the tool. The control is coupled to the interface, instrumentation and display, and causes the display of orientation information representative of the orientation of the tool with respect to the far end antenna. The hands-free attachment structure attaches the tool to the user's body and within the user's field of view. The user can move his or her body and the alignment tool attached thereto while viewing the orientation information on the display during antenna alignment.

Antenna alignment tool and method

Methods and apparatuses are provided for graphically displaying the noise level on each WLAN channel, along with the arrangement of other (neighboring) wireless host devices on each channel with their respective signal strengths as a distance indicator. As a result, collected information may be gathered and displayed intuitively to allow a user to quickly assess the environment and manually configure the wireless host device. In addition, methods and apparatuses are provided for suggesting to a user or automatically selecting a wireless host device configuration based on the noise level on each WLAN channel and the arrangement of other wireless host devices on each channel with consideration of their respective signal strengths. As a result, an optimal configuration for a deployed wireless host device may be determined and consistently suggested or automatically configured.

A telecommunication network device for implementing the DOCSIS standard during a transition from a coaxial cable network to a fiber-optic network is described. The device includes a memory including installed firmware for implementing a telecommunication gateway function in accordance with the DOCSIS telecommunication standard and a processor configured to update the installed firmware by downloading the update from a first TFTP server over a coaxial cable network, wherein the processor is further configured to update the installed firmware by downloading the update from a second TFTP server over a fiber-optic network.
