There is provided a communication device and method for contactless short range communication between a device and a terminal. An exemplary communication device comprises a communication component for contactless short range communication with a terminal. The exemplary device also comprises a slave element adapted to execute at least one application for executing transactions between the communication component and the terminal, wherein the slave element is coupled to the communication component via a first interface and wherein the slave element can be coupled to a secure master element via a second interface, the master element being adapted to control the slave element before a transaction is executed using the application.

Device and method for short range communication

There is provided a chip card that is configured to be inserted into a host device. An exemplary chip card comprises a microcontroller that includes a processor and a memory unit. The microcontroller is connected to a power terminal of the chip card for receiving power from a first power supply of the host device. The chip card also comprises a second power supply configured to at least temporarily supply power to a first component of the microcontroller.

The subject innovation relates to a chip card to be inserted in terminals. An exemplary embodiment of the chip card includes a clock unit to provide a time reference and an internal power source to at least run the clock unit in case of absence of an external power source. The exemplary chip card also includes a signal receiver to receive a satellite navigation signal comprising a satellite time signal, the signal receiver being connected to the clock unit in order to synchronize the clock unit with the satellite time signal to enable the clock unit to provide the time reference as a trusted absolute time reference independently from a position of the chip card.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for registering a first mobile device in a mobile communication network. The exemplary method comprises: (i) authenticating a second mobile device in the mobile communication network upon accessing the mobile communication network, (ii) determining a subscription associated with the second mobile device, (iii) registering the first mobile device in the mobile communication network under a new subscription derived from the determined subscription, and (iv) the first mobile device accessing the mobile communication network in response to a preceding communication between the first and the second mobile device. Furthermore, an exemplary embodiment of the invention relates to a system for carrying out the method.
