A heater assembly for an aerosol-generating system is provided, the heater assembly including: a fluid-permeable heating element configured to vaporise a liquid aerosol-forming substrate; and a transport material configured to transport liquid aerosol-forming substrate to the fluid-permeable heating element, the transport material having a thickness defined between a first surface of the transport material and an opposing second surface of the transport material, the first surface being arranged in fluid communication with the fluid-permeable heating element and the second surface being arranged to receive liquid aerosol-forming substrate, the second surface of the transport material being provided with at least one hole that extends into the transport material to a depth corresponding to at least a part of the thickness of the transport material to define a formed fluid channel for the liquid aerosol-forming substrate, and the first surface of the transport material being convex.

Heater assembly with pierced transport material

A cartridge assembly for an aerosol-generating system including a housing having an air outlet and an air inlet upstream of the housing air outlet; and a cartridge disposed within the housing. The air flow passage extending from the air inlet to the mouth end opening. The fluid permeable aerosol-generating element is within the housing. The removable seal has a seal portion and a tab portion, the seal portion in the air flow passage over the first surface of the fluid permeable aerosol-generating element, and the tab portion extending outwardly from the housing through the air inlet.

The protective cover is configured such that a portion of the airflow path is between the protective cover and the fluid permeable heating element.

A cartridge for an aerosol-generating system may comprise a liquid storage portion, which includes a housing holding a liquid aerosol-forming substrate. The housing has a first and a second opening. A reclosable cartridge assembly () for use in an aerosol-generating system comprises: a cartridge () extending longitudinally between end walls (); a housing () enclosing the cartridge () and comprising: an upstream portion with an end wall () comprising an opening (); and a downstream housing portion () with an end wall comprising an opening (). One of the housing portions () is rotatably fitted onto the cartridge (). One of the cartridge end walls () comprises a rupturable portion () separable from the remainder of the end wall to expose an opening () in the end wall. The rotatable housing portion () is adapted to engage the rupturable portion () such that, upon rotation from a storage position to a dispensing position, the housing portion () breaks off the rupturable portion () and exposes the opening () in the end wall. When the housing portion () is in the dispensing position, the opening () in the housing portion () is in fluid communication with the exposed opening () in the cartridge (). The housing portion () is further reversibly rotatable between the dispensing position and a closed position. When in the closed position, the end wall of the housing portion () obstructs the exposed opening () in the cartridge.

Activatable and reclosable cartridge assembly for an aerosol-generating system

The first piercing member () is movable along the longitudinal axis from a first position to a second position, wherein, when the first piercing member () is in the first position, the first piercing body () is retracted from the plane of the first frangible barrier (); and wherein, when the first piercing member () is in the second position, the first piercing body () extends into the at least one compartment () through the plane of the first frangible barrier (), and the at least one compartment () is in fluid communication with the inlet and outlet of the first channel (). The at least one compartment () is sealed at an end opposite the first end by a second frangible barrier (), the cartridge assembly () further comprising a second piercing member () configured to rupture the second frangible barrier ().

Cartridge assembly with activating piercing members for an aerosol-generating system

The cartridge includes a storage compartment configured to contain a liquid, the storage compartment having a first portion and a second portion connected to one another by a liquid channel. The cartridge includes an airflow passage passing between the first portion and the second portion of the storage compartment, and an aerosol-generating element that is fluid permeable and is positioned between the first portion and the second portion of the storage compartment, the aerosol-generating element having a first side and a second side that oppose each other, the first side of the aerosol-generating element forming part of the airflow passage and the second side of the aerosol-generating element being in contact with the liquid from the second portion of the storage compartment.

Aerosol-generating system and a cartridge for an aerosol-generating system having a two-part liquid storage compartment

The cartridge for the aerosol-generating system includes a housing defining an air inlet and an air outlet and an airflow path defined within the housing. The cartridge includes an atomizer assembly with an aerosol-generating element that is fluid permeable, and two electrical contact portions connected to the aerosol-generating element. The aerosol-generating element has a first side and a second side opposite the first side, wherein the first side of the aerosol-generating element is exposed to the airflow path and the second side of the aerosol-generating element is in contact with a liquid. The cartridge includes the mount that contains the atomizer assembly, where the mount covers a first portion of the first side of the aerosol-generating element to isolate the electrical contact portions from the airflow path, and covers at least a portion of the second side of the aerosol-generating element to isolate the electrical contact portions from the liquid.
