A method of preparing an electrochemical electrode which is partially or totally covered with a film that is obtained by spreading an aqueous solution comprising a water-soluble binder over the electrode and subsequently drying same. The production cost of the electrodes thus obtained is reduced and the surface porosity thereof is associated with desirable resistance values.

Particles including a core and a coat covering at least part of the core surface. The core has more than 50% of an acidic metal oxide and the core coating is based on a polymer, preferably based on a solid polymer with high electrochemical stability. The particle has a solubility rate (ds), in fixed time, of the metal oxide migrating towards the electrolyte, per cycle, which is less than 5 per 10000. The particles are obtained by mixing the polymer and a metal oxide, via dry process with addition of solvent. The electrodes constituting an electrode substrate at least partly coated with a mixture consisting of at least 40 of those particles have remarkable electrochemical properties, in particular regarding the lifetime of batteries in which they are incorporated.

An aprotic polymer/molten salt ternary mixture solvent and to a corresponding quaternary mixture additionally including an ionic conducting salt, which are prepared by mixing the constituents of the mixture. These mixtures are advantageously used in the preparation of electrochemical membranes, electrochemical systems and of electrochromic systems. Also, electrochemical and electrochromic systems obtained hereby that exhibit, in particular, excellent electrochemical properties at low temperatures.

Process for the purification of an ionic electrolyte including at least one alkali metal salt, the process having at least one stage in which particles of at least one calcium salt are brought into contact. A method for preparing an electrode material, said material comprising complex oxide particles having a non-powdery conductive carbon deposit on at least part of their surface, said method comprising: grinding into nanometer size complex oxide particles or particles of complex oxide precursors, wherein the grinding is performed in a bead mill on particles dispersed in a carrier solvent, adding an organic carbon precursor to the oxide particles or oxide precursor particles before, during or after said grinding, and pyrolysing the mixture thus obtained, selecting the size of the particles to grind, the size of the beads used to grind, and the size of the resulting particles such that: 0.004&#x3c;MS(SP)/MS(B)&#x3c;0.12 and 0.0025&#x3c;MS(FP)/MS(SP)&#x3c;0.25, wherein MS(SP) represents the mean size diameter of the particles before grinding, MS(FP) represents the mean size diameter of the particles after grinding, and MS(B) is the mean size diameter of the beads.

The invention relates to a metallic lithium rechargeable electrochemical accumulator, comprising at least one lithium metal electrode and at least one polymeric electrolyte gel. Said accumulator is capable of operating at temperatures from &#x2212;20 to 60&#xb0; C., essentially without formation of lithium dendrites on the whole surface of the metallic lithium electrode. The above is also wherein a particularly long life, even with intensive use at low temperature. Said inventive rechargeable accumulator can be produced by use of a production method with particular application of temperature control during the specific production stages. As a result of the extremely high electrochemical performance of said accumulator, in particular the remarkable stability thereof, said accumulator can be used in new application fields such as hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles and emergency supply systems such as those of the UPS type.

Rechargeable electrochemical accumulator

A composite electrode material consisting of a carbon coated complex oxide, fibrous carbon and a binder. Said material is prepared by a method which includes co-grinding an active electrode material and fibrous carbon, and adding a binder to the co-grinded mixture to lower the viscosity of the mixture. The fibrous carbon is preferably vapor grown carbon fibers.

Composite electrode material

Mixture of particles comprising a non-conducting or semi-conducting nucleus covered with a hybrid conductor coating and hybrid conductor chains located between the particles of the mixture to constitute a conductivity network, that is prepared by mechanical crushing. Due to a very good conductivity of the network, a low resistivity, a very good capacity under elevated current and/or a good density of energy, these mixtures of particles are advantageously incorporated in anodes and cathodes of electrochemical generators, resulting in highly performing electrochemical systems.

A positive electrode material, having particles having a complex oxide OC1 core, an at least partial complex oxide OC2 coating, and an adhesive carbon surface deposit. The material is characterized in that the complex oxide OC1 is an oxide having a high energy density and in that the oxide OC2 is an oxide of a metal having a catalytic effect on the reaction of the carbon deposit, the oxide having good electronic conductivity. The presence of the OC2 layer facilitates the deposit of a carbon adhesive layer at the surface of the oxide particles, and improves the conductivity of the material when the latter is used as an electrode material. The electrode material can particularly be used in the manufacture of a lithium battery.
