The present disclosure provides approaches to facilitating virtual reality and cross-device experiences. In some implementations, an environmental snapshot is captured which includes an image of a virtual reality (VR) environment presented on a VR device and corresponding depth information of the VR environment. The image of the environmental snapshot is presented on a different device than the VR device. A user modification to content associated with the presented image is translated into the environmental snapshot based on the depth information. The environmental snapshot comprising the user modification is translated into the VR environment. The VR environment comprising the translated user modification is presented. The environmental snapshot may correspond to a personal space of a user and may be accessed by another user through a social networking interface or other user networking interface to cause the presentation of the image.

Virtual reality and cross-device experiences

The present disclosure provides approaches to simulating depth of field. In some implementations, an optimal scan distance of a camera from a subject in a physical environment is determined for a scan of the subject by the camera. A blur level is iteratively updated to correspond to a proximity of the camera to the determined optimal scan distance as the proximity changes during the scan. For each update to the blur level from the iteratively updating, an image comprising a three-dimensional (3D) model of the physical environment depicted at the updated blur level is generated on a user device associated with the scan.

Simulating depth of field

A method to provide visual feedback for gazed-based user-interface navigation includes presenting, on a display, a first image representing a digital object available for user interaction, recognizing a user gaze axis, and computing a point of intersection of the user gaze axis through the first image. An offset distance between the point of intersection and a reference position of the first image then recognized, and a second image is presented on the display. The second image is presented displaced from the point of intersection by an amount dependent on the offset distance.

Recovery of localization data is provided between versions of a software product. A first resource is identified that is associated with a first version of the software product. A second resource is identified that is associated with a second version of the software product. A first resource identifier associated the first resource is different from a second resource identifier associated with the second resource. The first resource is mapped to the second resource when the second resource is found to be a shifted version of the first resource. The localization data corresponding to the first resource from the first version is migrated to the second version and the localization data is associated with the second resource from the second version when the second resource is a shifted version of the first resource.
