Granules of racemic sodium ibuprofen dihydrate formed from components specified herein have very desirable properties and can be effectively used in conventional rotary press tableting equipment without operational difficulties often en-countered in actual practice. Their preparation by a wet granulation process, the wet granule compositions, formulations adapted for preparation of solid dosage forms utilizing a rotary press, solid dosage forms, and methods of preparing solid dosage forms in a rotary press are also described.

High content sodium ibuprofen granules, their preparation and their use in preparing non-effervescent solid dosage forms

Disclosed is a method for the preparation of easily-swallowed, reliably-dosed, aesthetically-improved tablets of sodium ibuprofen dihydrate, the method comprising the formation of the tablets with punches or presses comprising contact surfaces which are chrome or chrome-plated.

Granules of racemic sodium ibuprofen dihydrate formed from components specified herein have very desirable properties and can be effectively used in conventional rotary press tableting equipment without operational difficulties often encountered in actual practice. Their preparation by a wet granulation process, the wet granule compositions, formulations adapted for preparation of solid dosage forms utilizing a rotary press, solid dosage forms, and methods of preparing solid dosage forms in a rotary press are also described.

Described are granules composed at least of a substantial amount of ibuprofen, at least one pharmaceutically-acceptable super disintegrant, and at least one pharmaceutically-acceptable binder different from the super disintegrant(s), the super disintegrant(s) being substantially uniformly dispersed throughout the granules. The methods for preparing such granules are described. The granules are useful in forming solid dosage forms such as filled capsules or compressed solid dosage forms.

High ibuprofen content granules and their preparation and their use in pharmaceutical dosage forms

Particulate synthetic zeolite is micronized in a liquid organic medium to form a micronized zeolite product having an average (mean) particle size of about 2 microns or less and containing at least 90% by weight, based on the dry weight of the zeolite product, if isolated, of particles no larger than about 5 microns. Preferably, the micronized zeolite product has a mean particle size of 1 micron or less, and at least 90% by weight of the zeolite product, based on the dry weight of the zeolite product, if isolated, has a particle size of 2 microns or less. The liquid organic medium used is (a) inert or substantially inert, (b) devoid or substantially devoid of water, and (c) devoid of a dispersant.

Process for producing ultra finely-divided zeolite powder

The cleansing bar is comprised of at least one fully neutralized alkali metal salt of an alkyl or alkenyl succinic acid in which the alkyl or alkenyl group is a straight chain alkyl or alkenyl group containing about 8-14 carbon atoms.

This invention provides a process for producing a betaine/amine oxide mixture. This process comprises reacting, in a liquid medium, an alkali metal &ohgr;-halocarboxylate with a first tertiary amine of the formula R,R,N, wherein each R,group is a hydrocarbyl group which independently has from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, and wherein the R,group is a hydrocarbyl group which has from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms, to produce a betaine product solution. To the betaine product solution is added a second tertiary amine of the formula R,R,N, wherein each R,group is a hydrocarbyl group which independently has from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, and wherein the R,group is a hydrocarbyl group which has from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms, to produce an amine/betaine mixture. The first and second tertiary amines can be separate portions of the same amine. Preferably, however, the first and second tertiary amines differ from each other. In a carbon dioxide atmosphere, the amine/betaine mixture is mixed with hydrogen peroxide to yield a betaine/amine oxide mixture.

Process for producing betaine/amine oxide mixtures

The sizing agents are mixtures of alkenyl succinic anhydrides in which the alkenyl groups have in the range of about 6 to about 40 carbon atoms, and in which at least 97 wt % of the alkenyl groups are bifurcated on the alpha carbon atom into two branches neither of which has less than two carbon atoms. Other characteristics of the mixture are that (1) 20-50% of the bifurcated alkenyl groups have only one methyl or methylene substituent and no other side chain, and the remainder of such bifurcated groups have two straight chain branches (no side chain) emanating from the alpha carbon atom, (2) at least 3 alkenyl succinic anhydrides that differ in the number of alkenyl carbon atoms are each present in at least 5 wt % in the mixture, (3) no more than about 50 wt % of the alkenyl succinic anhydrides is any given alkenyl succinic anhydride or mixture of isomers having the same number of carbon atoms in their alkenyl groups, (4) the average number of carbon atoms in the alkenyl groups is ca. 16-22 per molecule, and (5) the mixture has a viscosity at 25&deg; C. in the range of about 80 to about 220 centistokes.

Sizing agents and starting materials for their preparation

To form a mixture of anhydrides suitable for use as a curing agent for epoxy resins, a mixture formed from maleic anhydride and a liquid monoolefin is heated to produce a reaction mass containing a liquid phase comprised of alkenyl succinic anhydride, maleic anhydride, and monoolefin. Then a conjugated diene hydrocarbon is mixed with this reaction mass and the temperature of the resultant mixture is such as to form a reaction mass comprising tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and/or alkyl-substituted tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and alkenyl succinic anhydride.

Enhanced production of hydrocarbyl anhydrides

Provided are alkenyl and/or alkyl succinimides formed from at least one alkenyl or alkyl succinic anhydride and at least one aliphatic amine having one or two primary amino groups in the molecule. These succinimides are characterized in that each alkenyl or alkyl group thereof contains in the range of 16 to 30 carbon atoms. Such group is bifurcated on its alpha carbon atom into two branches neither of which contains less than 2 carbon atoms, one such branch being free of any side chain, and the other such branch either being free of any side chain or containing at most one methyl or methylene side chain. In addition the succinimide has a viscosity at 80&deg; C. of less than about 100 centistokes. These succinimides are especially useful as internal and external sizing agents for paper and paper products.

Sizing agents of enhanced performance capabilities

Novel synthetic zeolite compositions of extremely small particle sizes that have increased loading capability, and process technology for producing such compositions are described. So far as is presently known, it has never been possible to form such compositions heretofore. The process technology involves, inter alia, contacting the zeolite cake formed in its production with a specified type of treating agent and then subjecting the treated zeolite to physical subdivision.

Dishes are cleaned by washing them with a cleaning implement which has been charged with the detergent in a solid block made from a formulation having a water-soluble alkali metal salt content of 15-60% by weight and a surfactant content of 10-70% by weight, said surfactant comprising 15-100% by weight of at least one amine oxide corresponding to the formula RR'R'NO .multidot.nH.sub.2 O in which R and R' are independently selected from methyl, ethyl, and 2-hydroxyethyl, R' is a primary alkyl group containing 12-16 carbons, and n represents 0, 1, or 2.

Dish-washing method

A quaternary ammonium compound is combined with a water-soluble anionic surfactant having a hydrophile/lipophile balance (HLB) of 14 or above to form a biocidal/surfactant composition in which the amount of (ii) is up to 50 wt % of the total weight of these components. In the presence of water or other suitable aqueous media, such compositions appear to form a soluble charge complex. But whatever actually happens in the aqueous medium, the surfactant properties of the quaternary ammonium compound are improved without jeopardizing or impairing its germicidal properties.

Biocidal surfactant compositions and their use

Improved results are obtained in the no-rub cleaning of hard surfaces when the cleaner used in the process is an aqueous solution of (A) about 40-50% by weight of a nonionic surfactant mixture of an alcohol ethoxylate and a C.sub.8-16 alkyldimethylamine oxide in a weight ratio of about 5-15/1 and (B) correspondingly, about 60-50% by weight of one or more nitrogenous builders.
