A vehicular interior cabin monitoring system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly with a mirror head that accommodates a camera and a plurality of sets of light sources. The system includes a plurality of electronic switches. Each of the electronic switches (i) is connected in parallel across a respective set of light sources and (ii) is connected in series with at least one other set of light sources when at least one other electronic switch operates in its opened state. With each electronic switch operating in its respective opened state, electrical current provided by the current driver passes through the individual light sources of the plurality of sets of lights sources. The system is (i) operable to provide an occupant detection function for detecting an occupant present within an interior cabin of the vehicle and (ii) operable to provide a driver monitoring function for monitoring a driver of the vehicle.

Vehicular interior cabin monitoring system

A vehicular interior cabin monitoring system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly with a mirror head that accommodates a camera and a plurality of light sources. The system includes a plurality of electronic switches. A vehicular cabin monitoring system includes a mirror head adjustably attached at a mounting structure configured to attach at an interior portion of a vehicle. The minor head accommodates a camera and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) connected in series with each other. A switch is operable in an open state, where current provided by a current driver passes through each individual LED of the plurality of LEDs, and a closed state, where current provided by the current driver passes through a first subset of LEDs of the plurality of LEDs and bypasses a second subset of LEDs of the plurality of LEDs. The switch operates in the open state when the camera captures image data for a first vehicular function, such as occupant monitoring, and operates in the closed state when the camera captures image data for a second vehicular function, such as driver monitoring.

Vehicular interior cabin lighting system selectively operable for DMS and OMS functions

A vehicular vision system includes at least one color camera disposed at a vehicle and having an image sensor operable to capture image data. A first system on chip (SoC) includes an image signal processor that receives captured image data and converts the received image data to converted data that is in a format suitable for machine vision processing. A second system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and communicates display data to a display disposed in the vehicle, with the display data being in a format suitable for display of video images at the display. At startup of the vehicle, video images derived from the display data are displayed by the display within a time period following startup of the vehicle and machine vision data processing of converted data does not commence until after the display time period has elapsed following startup of the vehicle.

Vehicle vision system with smart camera video output

A vehicular vision system includes a camera, a distance sensor and a controller having at least one processor. Image data captured by the camera and sensor data captured by the distance sensor are processed at the controller. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, detects an object. The controller determines the distance to the detected object based at least in part on difference between the positions of the detected object in captured image data and in captured sensor data. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, and responsive to the determined distance to the detected object, determines that the detected object represents a collision risk. The controller alerts a driver of the vehicle of the collision risk and/or controls the vehicle to mitigate the collision risk.

Vehicular vision system

A vision system for a vehicle includes at least one camera disposed at a vehicle and having an image sensor operable to capture image data. A display is operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle during normal operation of the vehicle. A first system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and processes the received captured image data for machine vision. The first SoC, responsive to image processing of the received captured image data, generates an output for a driver assistance system of the vehicle. A second system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and communicates the image data to the display.

A vehicular alert system includes a control disposed at a vehicle, the control including a processor for processing potential hazard data received by the control. The control, responsive to receiving potential hazard data, determines the vehicle is approaching a hazard. The control, responsive to determining the equipped vehicle is approaching the hazard, alerts another vehicle of the approaching hazard at least by actuating hazard lights of the equipped vehicle.

A vehicular vision system includes a camera, a distance sensor and a controller having at least one processor, where image data captured by the camera and sensor data captured by the distance sensor are processed at the controller. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, detects an object. The controller determines the distance to the detected object based at least in part on difference between the positions of the detected object in captured image data and in captured sensor data. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, and responsive to the determined distance to the detected object, determines that the detected object represents a collision risk. The controller informs a driver of the vehicle of the collision risk and/or controls the vehicle to mitigate the collision risk.

A method for determining a diagnostic condition of a vehicular video connection includes providing a video driver, a video cable, a video driver power supply, a current sensor and a microcontroller. The video driver is powered via the video driver power supply. Current flowing to the video driver from the video driver power supply is sensed via the current sensor. The microcontroller determines a current level sensed by the current sensor during operation of the video driver. An open circuit condition may be determined when the determined current level of the current flowing into the video driver falls below a predetermined quantity, and/or a short to battery condition may be determined when the determined current level of the current flowing into the video driver exceeds a predetermined quantity.

Method for determining a diagnostic condition of a vehicular video connection

A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera is operable to capture image data. The camera includes a circuit board and an imager disposed at the circuit board. An image processor is disposed at the circuit board, which has circuitry disposed thereat. The image processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera. Signals to and from the image processor are provided on at least one shared line connected between an electrical connector of the camera and a vehicle control of the vehicle. The at least one shared line includes at least one combined camera control and camera programming line. Signals carried on the combined camera control and camera programming line (i) control operation of the camera and (ii) program the camera.

Rear vision system for vehicle with dual purpose signal lines

A vehicle vision system includes a diagnostic circuit for a video output cable that senses the current flowing into a video output driver. The diagnostic circuit is operable to process the current flow to determine an open-circuit condition of the video cable, a short to ground condition of the video cable and/or a short to battery condition of the video cable. The circuit may process the current flow passing through an electrical resistor connected in series between the video output driver and the video driver power supply.

Video output diagnostics for automotive application

A vehicular camera includes a lens, an image processor configured to receive images from the lens, and a microcontroller containing flash memory. The microcontroller is connected to the image processor by a first bus through which command data is communicated to the image processor from the microcontroller. The command data includes application instructions to draw application data from a selected point in the flash memory. The microcontroller is connected to the image processor by a second bus through which application data is communicated to the image processor from the flash memory.
