A sunscreen composition having improved water resistance comprising (i) a sunscreen active agent; (ii) a water resistant agent comprising a natural wax having a Damping Factor of less than 1.0 in a linear viscoelastic range at body temperature; and (iii) an emulsifier or a surfactant capable of stabilizing an emulsion of components (i) to (iii), wherein said sunscreen composition maintains at least 75%, preferably at least 85%, and most preferably at least 99%, of its static SPF after water immersion for 4 hours.

Sunscreen compositions with natural waxes for improved water resistance

The present disclosure provides a way to enhance the photoconductivity and/or the SPF of a semiconductor. By dispersing the semiconductor with a compound having multiple phenyl groups in a polar carrier oil, the semiconductor exhibits greatly improved photoconductivity and/or SPF over dispersions comprising the semiconductor alone.

Enhanced photoconductivity and SPF of semiconductors

A composition comprising a physical sunscreen, one or more adjuvants, and a carrier oil is provided. The composition also includes at least one of a compound having multiple phenyl groups, a film former or dispersant, and a silicone surfactant. The composition may also include an organic sunscreen. The combination of these ingredients exhibits an unexpected synergistic effect, in that the photoactive properties of the composition (e.g., SPF, UV absorption) are significantly higher than would be predicted based on the values for each of the components individually.

Enhanced photoactivity of semiconductors and/or sunscreens

A method of analyzing metal oxides. In this method, metal oxide is provided, heated with microwaves, and a conductivity parameter of the metal oxide is determined. From the conductivity parameter, a determination is made regarding a pyroelectric effect of the metal oxide.
