In one aspect the invention provides a melt process for preparing a functionalized olefin multiblock interpolymer, said process comprising grafting onto the backbone of the olefin multiblock interpolymer at least one compound comprising at least one 'amine-reactive' group to form a grafted olefin multiblock interpolymer, and reacting a primary-secondary diamine or an alkanolamine with the grafted olefin multiblock interpolymer, without the isolation of the grated olefin multiblock interpolymer.

Functionalized olefin polymers, compositions and articles prepared therefrom, and methods for making the same

The invention provides a composition comprising at least one olefin multi-block interpolymer; at least one functionalized olefin-based polymer; and optionally at least one thermoplastic polyurethane. The invention also provides for articles prepared from the inventive compositions and for methods for making the same.

Polyolefin compositions and articles prepared therefrom, and methods for making the same

The invention provides polyolefin blend compositions of polar and/or non-polar polymers, with at least one functionalized polyolefin polymer selected from the group consisting of: amine functionalized, hydroxyl functionalized, imide functionalized, anhydride functionalized, or carboxylic acid functionalized polyolefin polymers. The invention also provides methods for making the functionalized polyolefin polymer. The invention also provides for materials and articles containing at least one component prepared from such compositions.

The invention provides a composition comprising at least the following: an olefin multi-block interpolymer, a functionalized olefin-based polymer, and a thermoplastic polyurethane. The invention also provides for articles prepared from the inventive compositions and for methods for making the same.

An adhesive composition comprising a copolymer of propylene and at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of ethylene and C&#x3b1;-olefins, the copolymer having (i) a content of units derived from propylene of greater than about 50 mole percent, (ii) a Brookfield viscosity at 190 C from about 50 to about 100,000 cP, (iii) an MWD from about 1.5 to about 15, and (iv) containing less than about 50 ppm residual catalyst metal.

Polypropylene-based adhesive compositions

A thermoplastic, hydrogenated vinyl aromatic/conjugated diene block polymer composition, especially a hydrogenated styrene/butadiene triblock composition, functions well as a LED encapsulating material in that it provides one or more of optical clarity, thermal stability, ultraviolet light resistance, melt-processability and injection-moldability. The resulting LED resists deformation after setting or hardening under typical solder reflow conditions.

Substantially isotaclic propylene interpolyraets comprise (A) at least 60 weight percent (wt %) units derived from propylene, and (B) between greater than zero and 40 wt % units derived from ethylene, the propylene interpolyrner further characterized by at least one of the following properties: (1) a ratio of less than 1 measured at interpolyraer number average molecular weight (Mn), (2) a relative compositional drift of less than 50%, arid (3) propylene chain segments having a chain isotacticity triad index of at least 70 mole percent.

Long chain branched propylene-alpha-olefin copolymers

The adhesion between a low surface energy (i.e., nonpolar) material, e.g., a polyolefin such as polyethylene, and a high surface energy (i.e., polar) material, e.g., a polyester, polyurethane, polycarbonate or polylactic acid, is promoted by blending with the nonpolar material typically from 15 to less than 50 wt % of a diol-based thermoplastic polyurethane (d-TPU), e.g., a polydiene diol-based TPU, based on the combined weight of the nonpolar material and the d-TPU. The promoted adhesion allows for the effective painting, printing, over-molding or HF-welding of a nonpolar substrate, e.g., a polyolefin film, with a polar coating, e.g., a paint, ink, etc. Aqueous dispersions can also be made from the blend of nonpolar material and d-TPU.

Articles comprising nonpolar polyolefin and polyurethane, and methods for their preparation and use

The invention provides a composition comprising the following: at least one olefin-based polymer, at least one halogenated ethylene-based polymer, or at least one elastomer rubber; at least one thermoplastic polyurethane; and at least one polydiene- or polydiol-based polyurethane. These compositions are well-suited for promoting the adhesion between polar (for example, polyester, polycarbonate and polylactic acid) and non-polar materials and for the manufacture of, among other things, films, fibers, sheets and tie layers, tubes, adhesives, dispersions, protective apparel, footwear, coatings, laminates and foams.

Polyurethane compositions and articles prepared therefrom, and methods for making the same

Polymer blends comprise at least one ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and one or more oil. The oil can be an aromatic oil, napththenic oil, paraffinic oil or a combination thereof. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymers are random block copolymers comprising at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The resulting blends can be used to make flexible molded articles.

Oil based blends of interpolymers of ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefins

A method of nucleating a propylene homo- or copolymer, the method comprising contacting the propylene polymer with a semi-crystalline branched or coupled polymeric nucleating agent under nucleation conditions. In one embodiment, the propylene homopolymer is characterized as havingC NMR peaks corresponding to a regio-error at about 14.6 and about 15.7 ppm, the peaks of about equal intensity. In another embodiment, the copolymer is characterized as comprising at least about 60 weight percent (wt %) of units derived from propylene, and as having at least one of the following properties: (i)C NMR peaks corresponding to a regio-error at about 14.6 and about 15.7 ppm, the peaks of about equal intensity, (ii) a B-value greater than about 1.4 when the comonomer content, i.e., the units derived from ethylene and/or the unsaturated comonomer(s), of the copolymer is at least about 3 wt %, (iii) a skewness index, S, greater than about &#x2212;1.20, (iv) a DSC curve with a Tthat remains essentially the same and a Tthat decreases as the amount of comonomer, i.e., the units derived from ethylene and/or the unsaturated comonomer(s), in the copolymer is increased, and (v) an X-ray diffraction pattern that reports more gamma-form crystals than a comparable copolymer prepared with a Ziegler-Natta (Z-N) catalyst.

Crystallization of polypropylene using a semi-crystalline, branched or coupled nucleating agent

Polymer blends that exhibit good impact resistance comprise a crystalline polypropylene matrix and a partly crystalline copolymer impact modifier with a molecular weight lower than that of the matrix polymer. The matrix polymer can comprise any crystalline propylene homo- or copolymer. The impact modifying copolymers are characterized as comprising at least about 60 weight percent (wt %) of units derived from propylene and, in certain embodiments, as having at least one, preferably two or more, of the following properties: (i)C NMR peaks corresponding to a regio-error at about 14.6 and about 15.7 ppm, the peaks of about equal intensity, (ii) a B-value greater than about 1.4 when the comonomer content of the copolymer is at least about 3 wt %, (iii) a skewness index, S, greater than about &#x2212;1.20, (iv) a DSC curve with a Tthat remains essentially the same and a Tthat decreases as the amount of comonomer in the copolymer is increased, and (v) an X-ray diffraction pattern that reports more gamma-form crystals than a comparable copolymer prepared with a Ziegler-Natta (Z-N) catalyst.
