Trialkyl arsines (in particular trimethyl arsine) are removed from a fluid (e.g., a hydrocarbon-containing gas) by contacting the fluid with a sorbent material comprising at least one copper hydrocarbon sulfonate, preferably a copper salt of an aliphatic or aromatic sulfonic acid, or with a copper-exchanged, sulfonated styrene polymer.

Trialkyl arsine removal from fluids

Trialkyl arsine (in particular trimethyl arsine) is removed from a fluid (e.g. a hydrocarbon-containing gas) by contacting the fluid with a sorbent material comprising (a) a transition metal polysulfide (preferably Fe.sub.2 (S.sub.3).sub.3, and (b) an inorganic support material (preferably alumina).

Trialkyl arsine sorbents

A solid composition is prepared by mixing water, a hydraulic cement, aluminum metal powder, and a catalyst composition comprising (a) an inorganic support, (b) Pt and/or Pd metal (c) and Fe metal and/or oxide, followed by maintaining the obtained mixture under such conditions as to affect hardening of the hydraulic cement. Preferably, the hydraulic cement is a Type III portland cement and/or a Class H well cement. The thus-prepared solid compositon can be used as a CO oxidation catalyst.

Cement-containing catalyst composition and process for its preparation

Heavy hydrocarbon oil, containing asphaltene, sulfur and metal contaminants, is hydrotreated in the presence of a hydrotreating catalyst having a small pore diameter in an initial process step to remove sulfur and metal contaminants. Removal of additional metal and sulfur contaminants is then accomplished in a second process step by solvent deasphalting, wherein the size of the pore diameter of the hydrotreating catalyst utilized in the initial hydrotreating step affects the metals rejection in the subsequent solvent deasphalting step. In a third process step the deasphalted oil is catalytically cracked substantially in the absence of added hydrogen to provide lower boiling hydrocarbon products.

Process for converting heavy hydrocarbon oil

Trialky arsine(s) are removed from a fluid (e.g., a hydrocarbon-containing gas) by contacting the fluid with a sorbent material comprising (a) copper sulfide, preferably copper(I) sulfide, and (b) an inorganic support material, preferably zinc oxide and/or alumina.

Sorption of trialkyl arsines

In a process for preparing a reduced material comprising (a) alumina and/or magnesium aluminate as support material, (b) platinum metal and (c) an iron component, the improvement comprises: (1) treating the reduced composition of matter with an acidic liquid; (2) heating the acid-treated material, and (3) treating the material obtained in step (2) with a reduced gas. The prepared material is used as a catalyst for converting CO and O.sub.2 to CO.sub.2.

Catalytic process for oxidation of carbon monoxide

A composition of matter, effective as catalyst for CO oxidation with O.sub.2 at about 20.degree.-30.degree. C., comprising iridium metal, iron oxide and titania is prepared by a process comprising impregnating a titania-containing support material with at least one iron compound and at least one iridium carbonyl compound, drying the thus impregnated material, and treating it with a reducing gas (preferably H.sub.2).

Preparation of catalyst for oxidation of carbon monoxide

Trialkyl arsines are removed from fluids, in particular gases, by contacting with a solid sorbent material containing at least one manganese oxide (preferably MnO.sub.2) and at least one Group IB metal oxide (preferably CuO). In a preferred feature, the used solid sorbent material is regenerated by oxidizing treatment, washing with an aqueous liquid, and drying.

Removal of trialkyl arsines from fluids

Trialkyl arsines are removed from fluids, in particular gases, by contacting with a solid sorbent material containing at least one gold component (preferably AuCl and/or AuCl.sub.3 and/or NH.sub.4 AuCl.sub.4) and a support material (preferably alumina and/or silica). This process can be used for colorimetrically detecting the presence of arsines in gases.

Sorption and detection of trialkyl arsines

In a process for preparing a reduced material comprising (a) alumina and/or magnesium aluminate as support material, (b) platinum metal and (c) an iron component, the improvement comprises: (1) treating the reduced composition of matter with an acidic liquid; (2) heating the acid-treated material, and (3) treating the material obtained in step (2) with a reducing gas. The prepared material is used as a catalyst for converting CO and O.sub.2 to CO.sub.2.

Catalysts for oxidation of carbon monoxide

A composition comprises (a) at least one vanadium oxide as support material, (b) platinum metal, and (c) iron oxide and/or metal. This composition is used as catalyst in the reaction of carbon monoxide and oxygen to carbon dioxide. Preferably, the composition is made by a preparation process comprising the steps of impregnating the support material with an aqueous acid solution (preferably concentrated nitric acid) of Pt and Fe compounds.

Catalyst for oxidation of carbon monoxide

Trialkyl arsines are removed from fluids, in particular gases, by contacting with a solid sorbent material containing at least one silver component (preferably nitrate and/or oxide and/or metal) and a support material (preferably alumina, fluorided alumina, silica, fluorided silica, titania or magnesium aluminate).
