Single-phase retarded acid based on a cationic surfactant

Treatment of hydrocarbon formations using single-phase aqueous acid blends that contain arginine is described herein. The single-phase aqueous fluid includes one or more strong acid molecules and arginine in water, wherein the one or more strong acid molecules are present in a concentration range of 7.5 wt % to 28 wt %, based on the weight of the aqueous fluid, and arginine is present in a molar ratio of arginine to the one or more strong acid molecules that is from 1:100 to 1:5.

Single-phase retarded acid systems using amino acids

Treatment of hydrocarbon formations using single-phase aqueous acid blends that contain lysine is described herein. The single-phase aqueous fluid includes one or more strong acid molecules and lysine in water, wherein the one or more strong acid molecules are present in a concentration range of 15 wt % to 28 wt %, based on the weight of the aqueous fluid, and lysine is present in a molar ratio of lysine to the one or more strong acid molecules that is from 1:15 to 1:40, and a viscoelastic surfactant.

Methods and compositions for treating a siliceous geologic formation are described herein. An aqueous treatment composition for treating such formations includes an acid having molecular weight less than about 200, or an ammonium or sodium salt thereof, an HF source, and from about 0.1 wt % to about 2.0 wt % of a fluoride scale inhibitor, the aqueous treatment composition having a pH from about 1.0 to about 3.0.

Method for single-stage acid treatment of siliceous subterranean formations

Methods include pumping a fracturing pad fluid into a subterranean formation under conditions of sufficient rate and pressure to create at least one fracture in the subterranean formation, the fracturing pad fluid including a carrier fluid and a plurality of bridging particles, the bridging particles forming a bridge in a fracture tip of a far field region of the formation. Methods further include forming a first plurality of fibers in situ into the subterranean formation to form a low permeability plug with the bridging particles, and pumping a proppant fluid comprising a plurality of proppant particles.

Fluid viscosity control

Methods and related systems are described for real-time wellsite production allocation analysis. Spectroscopic in-situ measurements are made in the vicinity of a wellsite of a produced fluid from one or more boreholes. The produced fluid includes in a co-mingled state, at least a first fluid component from a first production zone and a second fluid component from a second production zone. An allocation is estimated in real-time for at least the first fluid component in the produced fluid based at least in part on the spectroscopic in-situ measurements. The in-situ measurements can be several types, for example: (1) absorption of electromagnetic radiation having wavelengths in the range of ultraviolet, visible and/or infrared light, (2) X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy measurements, (3) electromagnetic scattering spectroscopic measurements such as Raman spectroscopy measurements, (4) NMR spectroscopy measurements, and (5) terahertz time-domain spectroscopy measurements.
