Embodiments can provide a visual indicator system, attachable to a medical imaging patient bed. The visual indicator system comprising: one or more light strips, each light strip comprising a plurality of lights; a distance meter, attachable to one end of the medical imaging patient bed; a storage device, configured to store one or more preconfigured finger gestures; and a microcontroller. The one or more light strips are attachable to the medical imaging patient bed; wherein the microcontroller is configured to illuminate the one or more light strips after the one or more preconfigured finger gestures are made with respect to the one or more light strips. A position of the illumination of the light strip corresponds to a position of performing the one or more preconfigured finger gestures and one or more distance measurements received from the distance meter.

Embodiments can provide a medical imaging patient bed with an integrated electronic ruler system, comprising a light strip, mounted to the medical imaging bed; a trough comprising an open end and a closed end, mounted to the medical imaging bed and oriented such that the light strip is bounded by the open end and the closed end of the trough; a laser distance meter attached to the open end of the trough; a microcontroller; and a power source configured to provide power to the light strip, laser distance meter, and microcontroller; wherein the microcontroller is configured to illuminate the light strip after one or more distance measurements are received from the laser distance meter when an object is inserted into the trough; wherein a position of the illumination of the light strip corresponds to the one or more distance measurements received from the laser distance meter.

A contactless and battery-less interface for component identification and remote sensing is disclosed. The interface includes a near-field electromagnetic coupling for electrical power transfer and a full duplex optical coupling for bi-directional serial communication interface. The interface provides a low-cost and low-power Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) microcontroller with a minimum of components and a low production cost, wherein a communication and power interface can be provided between components such as a gamma camera head and a collimator, without requiring electrical contacts between interface circuit assemblies on the respective parts.

Timing in a medical imaging system. The system comprises a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) subsystem and a non-MRI subsystem. Operation of the non-MRI subsystem involves a timing signal within a radio frequency (RF) cabin of the MRI subsystem. Basing each non-MRI subsystem timing signal on a time base common between the MRI subsystem and the non-MRI subsystem. The non-MRI subsystem can be a medical imaging subsystem. The non-MRI medical imaging subsystem can be a positron emission tomography (PET) subsystem. Each non-MRI subsystem timing signal that based on the common time base can be created using the same model of equipment used for creating timing signals in the MRI subsystem. At least one stage of the non-MRI subsystem timing signal based on the common time base can be created using the same equipment used for creating timing signals in the MRI subsystem.

A printed circuit board (PCB) assembly of a data processing unit for an integrated magnetic resonance (MR) and positron emission tomography (PET) system, the PCB assembly includes a plurality of PCB layers disposed in a stacked arrangement, first and second PET signal processing circuits carried by a first layer of the plurality of PCB layers, first and second ground plane structures carried by a second layer of the plurality of PCB layers and configured relative to the first and second PET signal processing circuits, respectively, and a ground partition that separates the first PET signal processing circuit from the second PET signal processing circuit on the first layer. The ground partition extends through the first layer to provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding between the first and second PET signal processing circuits.

Systems and methods for detecting an obstruction in a detector surface fields are provided. In one respect, a set of lines may be projected over substantially a half of the detection area and may subsequently imaged and evaluated. Other embodiments may include a second set of lines that may be projected over substantially a second half of the detection area and may subsequently imaged and evaluated. The images may be evaluated to determine if there are breaks (e.g., an obstruction) in the projected set of lines. Based on the evaluation, the detector may provide dynamic feedback signals to a processor, which may adjust the position of the detector or provide a signal indicating an obstruction.

A test unit is electrically coupled between a motion controller and each of first and second redundant brakes. The test unit is responsive to the motion controller for automatically selecting one of the brakes to be tested. A microcontroller receives a signal from the motion controller that identifies one of the redundant brakes for activation, or deactivation, by an associated microcontroller output. The microcontroller outputs may be coupled respectively to activation terminals of respective brake switches connected in parallel to a brake activation voltage.
