The present invention relates to medical devices, such as catheters, made from a composition comprising at least one (per) fluoropolyether polymer; methods for the manufacture thereof; and their uses and applications in medicine.

The invention pertains to a polyaryl ether sulfone polymer solution [solution (SP)] comprising: &#x2014;at least one sulfone polymer [polymer (PSI)] having recurring units, wherein more than 50% moles, with respect to all the recurring units of polymer (PSI), are recurring units (R) selected from the group consisting of those of formulae (R-1) and (R-2) herein below: (R-1) (R-2) wherein: &#x2014;each of E', equal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is selected from the group consisting of those of formulae (E&#x2032;-1) to (E&#x2032;-3): (E&#x2032;-I) (E&#x2032;-II) (E&#x2032;-III) &#x2014;each R&#x2032; is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, ether, thioether, carboxylic acid, ester, amide, imide, alkali or alkaline earth metal sulfonate, alkyl sulfonate, alkali or alkaline earth metal phosphonate, alkyl phosphonate, amine and quaternary ammonium; and &#x2014;j&#x2032; is zero or an integer of 1 to 4; is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; preferably T is selected from the group consisting of a bond, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(CF)&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;CCI)&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(CH)(CHCH&#x2014;COOH)&#x2014;, and a group of formula: (A) &#x2014;at least one polar organic solvent [solvent (S)]; and &#x2014;at least one mixture of polyhydroxyl aliphatic alcohols having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or derivatives thereof [mixture (PHA)], said mixture (PHA) comprising at least one ethylene glycol compound [compound (EthyGly)] and at least one glycerol compound [compound (Gly)], to its use for manufacturing membranes, and to membranes obtained therefrom.

The invention relates to a composite comprising a porous substrate at least partially coated with a coating layer prepared from curing a coating composition (C), the coating composition (C) comprising at least one curable perfluoropolyether (PFPE) polymer. The invention further relates to a process for manufacturing a composite as afore-described, comprising the steps of: (a) providing a coating composition (C) comprising at least one curable perfluoropolyether (PFPE) polymer; (b) depositing said coating composition (C) on a porous substrate; and (c) crosslinking said coating composition (C) to form a porous substrate at least partially coated.

Composite membrane comprising layer of perfluoropolyether on hydrophilic substrate

The present invention pertains to a process for the manufacture of a grafted fluoropolymer [polymer (Fg)], said process comprising reacting: A) at least one fluoropolymer comprising at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group and a carboxylic acid group [polymer (F)], B) at least one polyoxyalkylene (POA) of formula (I): R&#x2014;(CH&#x2014;O)&#x2014;(CHCHRO)&#x2014;(CH&#x2014;O)&#x2014;R, wherein at least one of Rand Ris a reactive group comprising at least one heteroatom selected from oxygen and nitrogen different from the hydroxyl group, the remaining, if any, being a &#x2014;[O]&#x2014;CHalkyl group, wherein z is 0 or 1, Ris a hydrogen atom or a C-Calkyl group, x and x', equal to or different from each other, are independently 0 or 1, and n is an integer comprised between 2 and 1000, preferably between 5 and 200, C) optionally, in the presence of at least one catalyst, and D) optionally, in the presence of at least one organic solvent (S). The present invention also pertains to grafted fluoropolymers obtained from said process and to uses of said grafted fluoropolymers for manufacturing porous membranes.
