A method of providing telecommunication services in a telecommunication system including a terminal, a serving network providing the terminal with services, and a bearer network in functional connection with the serving network. One or more databases including subscriber data are created in the telecommunication system, the subscriber database(s) being in functional connection with the bearer network. Data according to the subscriber database, such as a subscriber identifier, are transmitted to the serving network and/or the terminal. The terminal is provided with services in accordance with the transmitted subscriber data.

Utilization of subscriber data in a telecommunication system

The invention relates to a method and arrangement for controlling a mobile subscription in a mobile communication system. The invention finds particular utility in arranging prepaid calls and in monitoring a quantitative right of use in a digital mobile communication system. An idea of the invention is to include the information about the accumulated or remaining right of use (ACM) in a response message (SRES&prime;) transmitted to the network in connection with the authentication ( ). Inclusion in the message can be realized using a predetermined algorithm ( ). This way the network is able to check, using the corresponding algorithm, that the charge information stored in the SIM module of the mobile station is correct ( ). In addition, the algorithm stored in the SIM module can be altered by the operator using an SMS (Short Message Service) message system associated with SIM modules.

Method and arrangement for controlling a mobile subscription in a module communication system

A mobile equipment ( ), such as a cellular radio telephone, includes a controller ( ) coupled to a wireless transceiver ( ) for bidirectionally communicating with one of a plurality of different networks ( &prime;), such as a GSM network and a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network. A data storage module ( ), referred to herein as a SIM/USIM or as a UICC (UMTS Integrated Circuit Card), is readably coupled to the controller. The module stores information for specifying at least an identification and the operational capabilities of the module in each of the plurality of different networks. The controller is responsive to a request received from one of the plurality of networks through the transceiver for accessing the module to retrieve the stored information and for transmitting the retrieved information to the requesting one of the networks through the transceiver.
