An aspect of the disclosure provides for an optical-phased array (OPA) comprising a star coupler coupled to a plurality of grating couplers, wherein the star coupler comprises multiple inputs and multiple outputs. In some embodiments, each output of the star coupler is coupled to a grating coupler of the plurality of grating couplers. In some embodiments, the star coupler is coupled to the plurality of grating couplers by a plurality of optical delay lines. In some embodiments each output of the star coupler is coupled to a grating coupler of the plurality of grating couplers via an optical delay line of the plurality of optical delay lines. In some embodiments, the OPA further includes an optical switch coupled to the multiple inputs of the star coupler, and at least one tunable laser. Another aspect of the disclosure provides a method for steering light using the OPA.

Optical-phased array beam-steerer

The invention relates to a diffractive device for chemical and biological analysis based on structured receptors on waveguides, which comprises: a waveguide and a recognition element consisting of a grating with receptors arranged on the waveguide and are intended to interact with target compounds present in a sample; and a radiation source that emits an incident beam propagated through the waveguide, interacting with the recognition element and being diffracted according to Bragg's law, thereby generating a reflected beam and a transmitted beam, which are collected by optical analyzers that record parameters of the reflected beam and of the transmitted beam, enabling multiple analyses to be conducted in a simple, fast, 15 sensitive and quantitative manner, label-free and in real time.

Diffractive device for chemical and biological analysis

This document describes a photonic device which makes it possible to both separate and combine bands of wavelengths in optical signals. To this end, the device described herein has a star coupler, a set of optical input waveguides connected to the input port of the star coupler, a waveguide grouping connected to the output port of the start coupler and a set of reflectors and phase shifters connected to said waveguide grouping. This document also provides details of a manufacturing process of the previously described device and a method for handling optical signals that makes use thereof.

Photonic integrated device

The invention relates to a tuneable AWG device for multiplexing and demultiplexing signals and to a method for tuning said device. The inventive device is an integrated-optic device which enables a signal made up of a plurality of signals multiplexed by wavelength division to be injected through an input port such as to obtain, at the output, a demultiplexed signal with each component exiting via a different port. If the multiplexed signal is changed to another input port, the demultiplexed signals appear at different ports, but always according to a pre-determined relationship. The invention makes it possible to tune the AWG device by using stationary acoustic waves such that the acoustically excited optical guides are excited by a linear acoustic wave.
