A metal sheet is provided. The metal sheet includes a substrate having two faces, each face hot dip coated with a metal coating of zinc, aluminum and magnesium. The metal coatings include between 0.1 and 20 wt % of aluminum and 0.1 and 10 wt % of magnesium. Layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide are formed on outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The layers are altered by applying an acid solution on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings or by applying mechanical forces using a roller leveler, a brushing device, or a shot-blasting device on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The metal sheet also includes a layer of oil deposited directly on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings.

Metal sheet having oiled Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg coatings

The present invention provides an aqueous treatment solution containing sulfate ions SOin a concentration greater than or equal to 0.01 mol/l, to treat sheet metal including a steel substrate coated on at least one face with a coating including at least zinc and magnesium to reduce blackening or tarnishing of the sheet metal during storage. The present invention also provides a sheet metal treated with a solution of this type.

Solution for reducing the blackening or tarnishing of a metal sheet and metal sheet

The present invention provides a metal sheet including a steel substrate coated on at least one face with a coating including from 0.1 to 20% by weight of magnesium, optionally from 0.1 to 20% by weight of aluminum, the balance being zinc, potential impurities linked to the method and optionally one or more additional elements selected from among Si, Sb, Pb, Ti, Ca, Mn, Sn, La, Ce, Cr, Ni, Zr and Bi, the content by weight of each additional element being less than 0.3%. The coating itself is covered by a layer, based on zinc hydroxychloride, having a chlorine coating weight of at least 1 mg/m. The layer does not include hydrozincite or mixed hydroxycarbonates of zinc and aluminum or water-soluble compounds of sodium or potassium. The present invention also provides a method to obtain the metal sheet.

Metal sheet treatment method for reducing blackening or tarnishing during the storage thereof and metal sheet treated with this method

A method is provided. The method includes providing a steel substrate having two faces coated by dipping the substrate in a bath, altering layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide formed on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings by applying mechanical forces, rinsing and drying the outer surfaces, applying a conversion solution on the outer surfaces and painting the outer surfaces of the metal coatings. A metal sheet is also provided.

Methods for producing a pre-lacquered metal sheet having Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg coatings and corresponding metal sheet

A method for producing a metal sheet is provided. The method includes providing a steel substrate having two faces, depositing a metal coating on each face by dipping the substrate in a bath, cooling the metal coatings, altering layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide formed on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings, and depositing a layer of oil on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings.
