A torque detection vascular therapy system employing a vascular therapy device () and a torque detection controller (). The vascular therapy device () is operable to be transitioned from a pre-deployed state to a post-deployed state, and includes a matrix of imageable markers representative of a geometry of the vascular therapy device (). The torque detection controller () controls a detection of a non-torsional deployment or a torsional deployment of the vascular therapy device () subsequent to a transition of the vascular therapy device () from the pre-deployed state to the post-deployed state by deriving a vector indication of the non-torsional deployment or the torsional deployment of the vascular therapy device () from a matrix orientation similarity or a matrix orientation dissimilarity between a baseline device geometry of the vascular therapy device () represented by the matrix of the imageable markers and an imaged device geometry of the vascular therapy device () represented by the matrix of imageable markers.

Torsional deployment detection of a vascular therapy

According to some implementations, a n medical interventional imaging device for monitoring an interventional procedure is described. The medical interventional imaging device includes a temporary data buffer configured to temporarily store medical interventional fluoroscopic image data, a signal processor configured to detect if an abnormal state occurs during an intervention and to record an instant at which the abnormal state has occurred, and a permanent data storage configured to permanently store at least a part of the medical interventional fluoroscopic image data stored temporarily before and/or at the recorded instant if the abnormal state is detected.

Medical interventional imaging device

The present invention relates to image processing for enhancing ultrasound images. In order to provide image data showing the current situation, for example in a region of interest of a patient, an image processing device () for enhancing ultrasound images is provided that comprises an image data input unit (), a central processing unit (), and a display unit (). The image data input unit is configured to provide an ultrasound image of a region of interest of an object, and to provide an X-ray image of the region of interest of the object. The central processing unit is configured to select a predetermined image area in the X-ray image, to register the ultrasound image and the X-ray image, to detect the predetermined area in the ultrasound image based on the registered selected predetermined image area, and to highlight at least a part of the detected area in the ultrasound image to generate a boosted ultrasound image. The display unit is configured to provide the boosted ultrasound image as guiding information on a display area ().

Enhancing ultrasound images

The present invention relates to displaying spatial information of an interventional device in a live 2D X-ray image. In order to provide a facilitated visualization technique to provide 3D information of a subject, a device () for providing spatial information of an interventional device in a live 2D X-ray image is provided. The device comprises an input unit (), and a processing unit (). The input unit is configured to provide an actual 2D X-ray image () of a region of interest related to a portion of a patient's body. A target location () lies within the region of interest. At least a portion () of an interventional device is arranged in the region of interest. The input unit is configured to provide actual 3D ultrasound data of at least a part of the region of interest and at least a portion of an interventional device (). The target location () lies within the region of interest. The processing unit is configured to register the actual 3D ultrasound data to the actual 2D X-ray image. The processing unit is also configured to identify the target location in the 3D ultrasound data, and to determine, based on the actual 3D ultrasound data, a spatial relation between the portion of the interventional device and the target location, to retrieve a distance value in a projection direction of the actual 2D X-ray image from the spatial relation, and, based on the distance value, to generate a graphical representation () indicative of the spatial relation, the graphical representation to be displayed with the actual 2D X-ray image.

Device and a corresponding method for providing spatial information of an interventional device in a live 2D X-ray image

The invention relates to a device () for positioning a marker () in a 3D ultrasonic image volume (), a system for positioning a marker () in a 3D ultrasonic image volume (), a method for positioning a marker () in a 3D ultrasonic image volume (), a computer program element for controlling such device () for performing such method and a computer readable medium having stored such computer program element. The device () comprises an image provision unit (), a marker unit () and a display unit (). The image provision unit () is configured to provide a 3D ultrasonic image volume () showing an object (). The marker unit () is configured to position a marker () in the 3D ultrasonic image volume (). The display unit () is configured to display the 3D ultrasonic image volume () and the marker () in a first imaging view () in a first imaging plane and in a second imaging view () in a second, different imaging plane. The positioning of the marker () is limited to be on a projection line (). The first and the second imaging views are rotated relative to each other, so that the projection line () has a first angle relative to the first imaging plane and a second, different angle relative to the second imaging plane.

Device for positioning a marker in a 3D ultrasonic image volume

A system () and a corresponding method enable an enhanced roadmapping visualization without unnecessary device-footprints. The system () includes an x-ray imaging device () for acquiring x-ray images and a calculation unit (). The x-ray imaging device () is adapted for acquiring a first x-ray image () with an interventional device () present in the vessels () while no contrast agent is present in the vessels () and a second x-ray image () with the interventional device () present in the vessels () while contrast agent is present in the vessels (). The calculation unit is adapted for creating a roadmap image () by subtracting the first x-ray image () from the second x-ray image () and automatically minimizing the visibility of the interventional device () in the roadmap image (). A display unit () is adapted to display the roadmap image () or an overlay of a current fluoroscopy image () with the roadmap image ().

Automatic device-footprint-free roadmapping for endovascular interventions

A medical image viewing device for navigation in X-ray imaging includes a processor. The processor is configured to perform a 3D-2D registration of a preoperative three-dimensional volume based on geometry parameters of an image data provider, which provides fluoroscopy images of an object of interest and a plurality of structures with interfering motions to be removed, for creating digitally reconstructed radiograph images of these structures for each fluoroscopy image. These are subtracted from the respective fluoroscopy images to generate structure-suppressed fluoroscopy images free from interfering motions. Based on these structure-suppressed fluoroscopy images, an angiographic image sequence is generated performing a motion estimation of the structures.

Suppression of independent movements in a series of 2D X-ray fluoroscopy images using a 3D pre-operative volume

A position determination apparatus for determining the position of a working element arranged within an object having an inner structure with respect to a model of the object. The position and shape of a registration element within the inner structure of the object are provided and used for determining a transformation relating the inner structure of the model and the position and shape of the registration element with respect to each other, wherein the position of the working element with respect to the model is determined depending on a provided spatial relation between the working element and the registration element and the determined transformation.

Position determination apparatus

The invention proposes to detect and track an intervention device in a 2D fluoroscopy image and to steer an ultrasound probe beam towards this device. Therefore, a method and corresponding system is proposed, by which an ultrasound probe is registered in a fluoroscopy image, wherein the registering includes the estimation of the position and of the orientation of the probe relative to the fluoroscopy.

Combination of ultrasound and x-ray systems

The invention relates to a cavity determination apparatus for determining a cavity () within an object (), in particular, for determining the location and dimensions of a heart chamber within a person. A bendable segment of an introduction element () is arranged within the cavity in different arrangements, wherein curves defined by the bendable segment in the different arrangements are determined by a curve determination unit (). A cavity reconstruction unit () reconstructs the cavity based on the determined curves. Thus, not only single locations within the cavity are acquired and used for reconstructing the cavity, but larger curves. A lot of spatial information can therefore be acquired and used very fast. This allows reconstructing the cavity with improved quality in a relatively short time.

An apparatus for visualizing image material in a multimodal imaging environment. Images (XF, USV) from an X-ray imager () and an ultrasound probe (USP) are fused into an interactive graphics display (GUI) to form a 3D scene, where, alongside to a 3D rendering (USS) of an ultrasound volume (USV) an X-Ray projection plan (XF) is displayed in perspective within the same scene. The rendering is according to a user selected view (UV) which is changeable upon user interaction with the interactive graphics display (GUI).

Real-time scene-modeling combining 3D ultrasound and 2D X-ray imagery

The present invention relates to pairing an anatomy representation with live images. In order to provide an enhanced and more flexible pairing of an anatomy representation with live images, for pairing an anatomy representation with live images, reference projected-anatomy image data of a device in a spatial relation to the anatomy is provided (), wherein the image data comprises at least a first and second image showing the device from different viewing angles. Further, an anatomy representation with an anatomy frame of reference is provided (). The anatomy representation is brought () into spatial coherence with the at least first and second image of the reference projected anatomy image data. A three-dimensional model of the device within the anatomy frame of reference is computed () from the projected anatomy image data. At least one live image is provided () containing the device. The model and the at least one live image are registered () based on the device information contained in the live image. The anatomy representation is brought () into spatial correspondence with the at least one live image based on the registering of the model and the at least one live image. The registered anatomy is combined () with the at least one live image.

Pairing of an anatomy representation with live images

An image processing apparatus and method take as input a pre-op reference image (OP) and a stream (A) of angiographic images (A-A). Based on multiple pre-defined regions of interest (ROIa-c) in the pre-op reference image (PO), the angiographic image best showing when displayed a respective one of the regions of interest (ROIa-c) is detected from among the stream (A) of angiographic images (A-A). The detected angiographic image is associated with the region of interest to form an associative data structure (DS). A graphical user interface (GUI) is generated that allows based on the associative data structure (DS) to retrieve the associated angiography upon a user selecting any one of the regions of interest (ROIa-c) on the graphical user interface (GUI).

Temporal anatomical target tagging in angiograms

The present invention relates to visualizing information of an object. Visualization for navigation guidance

A medical imaging device and a method for providing an image representation supporting inaccurate positioning of an intervention device in a vessel intervention procedure is proposed. Therein, an anatomy representation (AR) of a vessel region of interest and at least one angiogram X-ray image (RA) and a live fluoroscopy X-ray image (LI) are acquired. The following steps are performed when a radio-opaque device is fixedly arranged within the vessel region of interest: (a) registering the anatomy representation to the at least one angiogram X-ray image in order to provide an anatomy-angiogram-registration (R); (b) processing (DP) the at least one angiogram X-ray image and the at least one live fluoroscopy X-ray image in order to identify in each of the X-ray images the radio-opaque device; (c) registering (R) the at least one angiogram X-ray image to the at least one live fluoroscopy X-ray image based on the identified radio-opaque device in order to provide an angiogram-fluoroscopy-registration; and (d) combining the anatomy-angiogram-registration and the angiogram-fluoroscopy-registration in order to provide an anatomy-fluoroscopy-registration (GTC; RALC). Finally, an image representation resulting from the anatomy-fluoroscopy-registration showing an overlay of live images with the anatomy representation may be output thereby helping a surgeon to accurately position for example a synthetic aortic valve within an aortic root of a heart.
