A system for detecting, tracking, displaying and identifying repetitive movement, including a sensor configured to sense movement, and in particular static acceleration, along at least a first horizontal axis, and ideally about a second horizontal axis, with respect to a vertical axis and a processor to generate output signals therefrom for audible and visual display of information that can include movement identification, movement patterns, and to further include elapsed time, start and stop times, breathing patterns, and variations thereof from a reference.

The end diastole and end systole images from an acquired cardiac loop are shown side by side on an image display for automatic border tracing. The border tracings can be used to calculate ejection fraction in real time. The cardiac loops may be first acquired then processed for automatic border definition, or the acquired images can be processed in real time to indicate their suitability for automatic border detection as they are acquired.

Acquisition, analysis and display of ultrasonic diagnostic cardiac images

An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided which aid in the diagnosis of patient conditions by providing access from the ultrasound system to a library of reference ultrasonic images. The image library is cataloged in accordance with an image characteristic such as the type of examination, the part of the body or the type of pathology shown in the image, and the images of the library are accessed in accordance with these characteristics. The image library may be remotely located and accessible by a number of ultrasound systems over a network, or it may be located on the ultrasound system itself such as on a system disk drive. In a preferred embodiment reference images are concurrently displayed with patient images to aid in discerning the patient's condition.

An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided which is capable of sending and receiving electronic messages directly from the user interface of the ultrasound system. This capability permits physicians to send messages, reminders, and diagnostic examination instructions directly to ultrasonographers using the system. The system operator is also able to call a physician to an ultrasound exam by means of an electronic message. Electronic messages can also be used to send and receive diagnostic reports and images, to retrieve diagnostic information such as the system presets for a particular type of ultrasonic examination, and to send and receive information from a hospital information system.

An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided which is capable of accessing images and information from internal or external databases by means of a browser. Access to such images or information may be over a local network or over a worldwide network such as the Internet. The browser may be used to pull in system preset data or reference images from a reference image library, for instance.

Ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system with data access and communications

A medical ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided which is capable of being accessed over data communication networks such as the Internet, making the ultrasonic images, diagnostic reports, and ultrasound system diagnostics information and operation accessible to a conventional personal computer using commercially available software at virtually any remote location. In one embodiment, the ultrasound system can be remotely operated from the personal computer. The inventive apparatus and techniques make it possible for physicians to remotely access, control, and perform diagnoses using their ultrasound systems over a network such as the World Wide Web with no special hardware requirements.
