One embodiment provides a method comprising inputting into a first layer of a neural network at least one data sample of a current displacement of one or more moving components of a loudspeaker and at least one or more other data samples of one or more prior displacements of the one or more moving components. The method comprises generating in the first layer a data vector by applying a nonlinear activation function based on the at least one data sample of the current displacement and the at least one or more other data samples of the one or more prior displacements. The method comprises inputting into a second layer of the neural network the data vector and applying an affine transformation to the data vector. The method comprises outputting a prediction of a current voltage to apply to the loudspeaker based on the affine transformation applied to the data vector.

A method of processing a signal includes taking a signal recorded by a plurality of signal recorders, applying at least one super-resolution technique to the signal to produce an oscillator peak representation of the signal comprising a plurality of frequency components for a plurality of oscillator peaks, computing at least one Cross Channel Complex Spectral Phase Evolution (XCSPE) attribute for the signal to produce a measure of a spatial evolution of the plurality of oscillator peaks between the signal, identifying a known predicted XCSPE curve (PXC) trace corresponding to the frequency components and at least one XCSPE attribute of the plurality of oscillator peaks and utilizing the identified PXC trace to determine a spatial attribute corresponding to an origin of the signal.

One embodiment provides a method comprising determining an energy stored in a port of a vented box loudspeaker based on a physical model of the vented box loudspeaker, determining a time-varying attenuation to apply to a source signal for reproduction via the vented box loudspeaker based on the energy stored in the port, and controlling the energy stored in the port in real-time by attenuating the source signal based on the time-varying attenuation. A velocity of air in the port during the reproduction of the source signal is limited based on the controlling.

One embodiment provides a method comprising determining a potential energy in a loudspeaker, a kinetic energy in the loudspeaker, and an electrical energy in the loudspeaker based on a physical model of the loudspeaker. The method further comprises determining a maximum potential displacement of a diaphragm of a speaker driver of the loudspeaker based on the total energy, and limiting the total energy stored in the loudspeaker by attenuating a source signal for reproduction via the loudspeaker. An actual displacement of the diaphragm during the reproduction of the source signal is controlled based on the attenuated source signal.

The controller is configured to determine a target displacement of a diaphragm of the speaker driver based on a source signal for reproduction via the loudspeaker, determine a control current based on the target displacement of the diaphragm and a first physical model of the loudspeaker, and transmit a control current signal specifying the control current to the current source amplifier. The current source amplifier outputs the control current to drive the speaker driver based on the control current signal. An actual displacement of the diaphragm during the reproduction of the source signal is controlled based on the control current, via the control current signal.

One embodiment provides a vented box loudspeaker system comprising a speaker driver and a controller configured to receive a source signal for reproduction via the driver, determine a target displacement of the driver and a target sound pressure based on a first physical model of the system, and generate a control voltage based on the target displacement, the target sound pressure, and a second physical model of the system. Another embodiment provides a passive radiator loudspeaker system comprising an active speaker driver and a controller configured to receive a source signal for reproduction via the driver, determine a target displacement of a component based on a first physical model of the system, and generate a control voltage based on the target displacement and a second physical model of the system. In both embodiments, an actual displacement of the driver during the reproduction is controlled based on the generated control voltage.

One embodiment provides a device comprising a speaker driver including a diaphragm. The device further comprises a controller configured to receive a source signal for reproduction via the speaker driver, determine an estimated displacement of the diaphragm resulting from the reproduction of the source signal, and generate a control voltage based on the estimated displacement and threshold information relating to safe displacement of the diaphragm. An actual displacement of the diaphragm during the reproduction of the source signal is controlled based on the control voltage.
