A driver assistance system for a motor vehicle includes: a longitudinal guide controller; a transverse guide controller; at least one operating element via which the transverse guide controller is able to be activated only in common with, or in addition to, the longitudinal guide controller; a steering sensor which detects an operation of the steering wheel by the driver, the transverse guide controller being able to be deactivated by a signal of the steering sensor without the longitudinal guide controller being deactivated; and a brake pedal sensor which detects an operation of the brake pedal of the vehicle, the transverse guide controller and the longitudinal guide controller being able to be deactivated by a signal of the brake pedal sensor.

Driver assistance system

A device for fatigue warning in motor vehicles includes a driver sensor system for detecting driver fatigue conditions and a run-up alarm system which has an environment sensor system. The alarm system is designed to output a warning signal and/or perform a control action in the drive and/or brake system of the vehicle when the distance to a preceding vehicle drops below a warning distance. The run-up alarm system has a setting device which is configured to modify the warning distance as a function of the detected fatigue condition.

A device for impact sensing is described which detects an impact by a pressure, a normalized signal being supplied to a processor for analyzing the pressure signal. This normalization may occur either in the pressure sensor, by the sensor element itself or by a signal preprocessor, or in the processor.

A method and an apparatus for collision detection are proposed, which serve to make faster plausibility checking of a collision signal possible. To that end, the unfiltered sensor signal is used, and this unfiltered sensor signal is compared with a plausibility threshold. Preferably as a function of the comparison of the unfiltered signal with the plausibility threshold, a plausibility flag is set. This plausibility flag can be maintained for a relatively long time by a hold element. As the sensor, an acceleration sensor can advantageously be used.

In a method for side impact sensing in a vehicle, a side impact is recognized using acceleration signals, the acceleration signals from the left and right sides of the vehicle being subtracted from one another, integrated or added up, and the triggering threshold is formed as a function of this differential acceleration signal. If the integrated differential acceleration signal exceeds this threshold, a side impact is recognized.

In order to achieve a robust triggering decision for restraint devices in a vehicle, the difference is determined from chronologically offset measured acceleration values, and the absolute value of the difference is then integrated. The integral is compared to at least one threshold value, and if the integral then does not exceed the at least one threshold value prior to one or more definable points in time during the course of the crash, the location of a triggering threshold for the measured acceleration or for a velocity change derived therefrom is modified so that the triggering sensitivity becomes less.

A device for side impact detection in a motor vehicle, and a plausibility sensor side impact detection. This plausibility sensor is located in a loudspeaker which is already present in the lateral part for playback of music. This loudspeaker is used as a low-frequency microphone, a circuit being provided for the loudspeaker to differentiate between sound and rapid fluctuations in air pressure. This circuit has a bridge circuit, the differential voltage across the bridge then being used as a plausibility signal. The circuit itself is preferably located in the door.

Device for side impact detection in a motor vehicle

A device and a method, respectively, are proposed to detect side collisions, in which a temperature sensor is located in a motor-vehicle side section. In case of a side collision, the temperature sensor measures the short-term adiabatic temperature increase and a control device detects a side collision as a function of the measured temperature increase and the temperature gradient. A triggering decision is made by plausibility testing using an acceleration sensor.
