In an embodiment, a method of manufacturing () is described. The method comprises providing () a first layer defining a first inner surface () and a first outer surface (), a second layer defining a second inner surface () and a second outer surface (), and an electrical component () positioned on the first inner surface or the second inner surface. The method further comprises attaching () the first and second layers together to create a device () comprising the first and second layers, wherein the first outer surface and the second outer surface define an external surface of the device. The device further comprises a sealed portion () defined by liquid-tight attachment between the first and second inner surfaces. In use of the device, the sealed portion prevents liquid ingress into the device between the first and second layers towards the electrical component.

Skin sensor

The invention relates to an oral care device for teeth whitening or other purpose. The device is designed to provide a uniform light intensity distribution at the teeth. This is achieved by use of a light guide which at some surface parts is separated from surrounding parts of the mouthpiece of the oral care device by air-filled separation portions. The light guide mixes the injected light to improve the uniformity of the light intensity. In 5 order to couple light out from the light guide, the mouthpiece comprises an out-coupling structure located opposite to the buccal side of the teeth. The out-coupling structure may be shaped, e.g. by changing the area or density of parts of the out-coupling structure depending on the distance to a location of the light guide where light is injected.

Teeth illumination device with a light guide

A laser arrangement includes a laser array, and an optical arrangement. The laser array includes lasers in a first pattern emitting a same laser emission profile around a first optical axis with a divergence angle &#x3b8;/2. The optical arrangement has a diffusor with an array of optical elements in a second pattern, with a second optical axis, and with an illumination pattern along a first illumination axis in a field-of-view if laser light is received within a defined range smaller than or equal to a range of angles between &#x2212;/+&#x3b8; with respect to the second optical axis. A row of lasers parallel to the first illumination axis has a pitch p. A row of m optical elements is parallel to the first axis. Each optical element has a diameter L, and contacts its neighbor. The n lasers and the m optical elements satisfy n*p=m*L with a deviation smaller than +/&#x2212;5%.

Laser arrangement with reduced building height

There is provided a light guiding unit () for use in an oral cleaning device. The light guiding unit is configured to be coupled to a light source (), and the light guiding unit comprises a homogenizing component () having a length along which light from the light source is guided. The homogenizing component is further configured such that at least one of an amount of refraction of the guided light and an amount of internal reflection of the guided light varies along the length to homogenize, along the length of the homogenizing component, an amount of light transmitting out of the homogenizing component.

Light guiding unit

There is proposed a light source comprising: a semiconductor diode structure adapted to generate light; and an optical enhancement section above the semiconductor diode structure and adapted to output light from the semiconductor diode structure. A partially-reflective layer covers at least a portion of the top of the optical enhancement section and is adapted to reflect a portion of the output light towards the optical enhancement section. The partially-reflective layer has a light transmittance characteristic that varies laterally.

Light source

A VCSEL array has VCSELs on a semiconductor substrate and has a prismatic or Fresnel optical structure, which is arranged to transform laser light to provide a continuous illumination pattern in a reference plane. The optical structure increases a size of the illumination pattern in comparison to an untransformed illumination pattern. The optical structure is arranged such that each VCSEL illuminates a sector of the pattern. Sub-surfaces of the optical structure with different height above the semiconductor substrate are arranged next to each other. Each VCSEL is associated with a sub-surface. A distance between each VCSEL and a size of its sub-surface is arranged such that the VCSEL illuminates only a part of the sub-surface without illuminating one of the steps. The VCSEL array has an array of microlenses, each VCSEL being associated with a microlens arranged to collimate the laser light after traversing the optical structure.

The invention relates to a mouthpiece () for illumination of teeth, e.g. for teeth whitening. The mouthpiece is configured with at least two lenses () shaped to cast asymmetrical light onto the teeth (). The lenses are arranged one-to-one with associated light sources (). The first and second lenses are arranged to project the received light onto a buccal side () of the teeth (), and each of the first and second lenses has an asymmetrically shaped refraction surface () shaped to change an intensity distribution of the received light asymmetrically on opposite sides of an optical axis () of the respective light source along the dental arch () of the teeth.

Teeth illumination device

The invention relates to a mouthpiece () for illumination of teeth, e.g. for teeth whitening. The mouthpiece comprises a slab shaped light guide (), at least one light source arranged for injecting light into the light guide and an optically transparent element () arranged to contact the light guide. The optically transparent element has a lower refractive index than the light guide to enable total internal refection of the injected light. Light is coupled out of the light guide by an out-coupling structure () and through a part of the optically transparent part located between the light guide and the buccal side of the teeth to illuminated the teeth with uniform light.

An inspection substrate for inspecting a component of an apparatus for processing production substrates, the inspection substrate has: a body having dimensions similar to the production substrates so that the inspection substrate is compatible with the apparatus; an illumination device embedded in the body, the illumination device configured to emit radiation toward a target area of the component of the apparatus; an imaging device embedded in the body, the imaging device configured to detect radiation scattered at the target area and generate an image from the detected radiation, wherein the illumination device is configured to emit the radiation such that radiation that is specularly reflected at the target area does not contribute to the image generated by the imaging device.

Lighting arrangement

The invention relates to a light emitting device () comprising a primary light source (), a light converting medium () and an optical structure (). The primary light source is disposed on a substrate (). The light converting medium comprising phosphors () is arranged for converting at least a part of the primary light to secondary light (II) of a different wavelength. The light converting medium is in a remote phosphor configuration. The optical structure is arranged for receiving a part of the secondary light (II) from the light converting medium and is configured for redirecting the part of the secondary light in a direction towards the first plane but away for the primary light source (). By providing an optical structure redirecting the secondary light away from the primary light source, absorption of the secondary light by the primary light source can be substantially reduced or eliminated. The luminous efficacy is improved by redirecting this secondary light in a direction such that it is transmitted from the light emitting device.

Efficient light emitting device and method for manufacturing such a device
