The present invention refers to a mineral matter powder preparation by wet process without acrylic additive or other grinding aid additives and to the use of said mineral matter after an optional hydrophobic treatment. Said mineral material having superior dispersing properties.

The invention concerns a PROCESS for the preparation of cement/mortar/concrete (for simplicity: 'cement') compositions or systems, (hereafter 'cement' compositions or systems for simplicity), of a general known type, in which the filler(s) is/are comprising or consist of &#x201c;calcium carbonate-based filler(s)&#x201d;, comprising at least one step where the said filler(s) is/are treated with an efficient treating amount of at least one treating agent consisting of or comprising superplastifier(s). The main purpose of this invention is to build a process aimed at providing improved, &#x201c;High performance&#x201d;, FLUID, cement or mortars or concrete systems or compositions having an improved compacity, an improved flowability, and globally speaking a definitely improved &#x201c;workability&#x201d;, and &#x201c;regularity&#x201d; of the properties of the final systems. The present invention also concerns a filler for &#x201c;cement&#x201d; compositions, characterized in that if consists of, or comprises, a calcium-carbonate-based filler or blends of same, pre-treated with an &#x201c;efficient amount&#x201d; of at least one superplastifier.

The mechanical property known as 'strength at young ages' of cement matrices or hydraulic binders may be significantly improved by adding dispersions of mineral fillers and dispersing agents. The dispersing agents of the present invention comprise copolymers prepared by the radical copolymerization of at least one alkoxy-, aryloxy-, alkylaryloxy- or arylalkyloxy-polyalkylene glycol ethylenic urethane monomer with at least one anionic monomer and at least one non-ionic monomer, and optionally, an alkoxy-, aryloxy-, alkylaryloxy- or arylalkyloxy-polyalkylene glycol acrylate or methacrylate or an alkyloxy-, aryloxy-, alkylaryloxy- or arylalkyloxy-polyalkylene glycol allyl ether, and/or a crosslinking agent.

Method for improving the mechanical strength of cement matrices, and cement matrices produced thereby

Cements or hydraulic binders may be prepared by adding an aqueous suspension comprising a ground mineral filler and at least one grinding aid agent to a cement or hydraulic binder. The resulting cement or hydraulic binder has very appreciably improved mechanical properties, particularly the property of 'strength at young ages.' The grinding aid agent may be a natural or synthetic homopolymer and/or copolymer.

The mechanical property known as &ldquo;strength at young ages&rdquo; of cement matrices or hydraulic binders may be significantly improved by adding dispersions of mineral fillers and dispersing agents.
