A method of stabilizing a normally solid polyalkylene carbonate resin against thermal and hydrolytic decomposition, including the step of adding a cyclic amine selected from the group consisting of imidazole and 2-ethyl 4-methylimidazole at a wt. % of 5 to 45% of the normally solid polycarbonate resin. And, a method of producing tough coatings with excellent adhesion to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including the steps of: a) dissolving polyalkylene carbonate resin and a cyclic amine selected from the group of consisting of imidazole and 2-ethyl 4-methylimidazole at a wt. % of 5 to 45% of the normally solid polycarbonate resin in a solvent selected from the group consisting of methyl ethyl ketone and propylene glycol mono methyl ether acetate by mechanical mixing so as to form a solution; b) coating the ferrous or non-ferrous metals with the solution so as to form a coated metal; c) air drying the coated metal to evaporate the solvent so as to form an air-dried coated metal; and, d) curing the air-dried coated metal for a time selected from the group consisting of at least 12 hours at ambient temperature and 15 minutes at 150&#xb0; C.

Method of stabilizing a normally solid polyalkylene carbonate resin against thermal and hydrolytic decomposition for at least producing tough coatings with excellent adhesion to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals

Novel lower temperature hot melt adhesive and coating composition that melts at temperatures less than 190.degree. F. (about 87.8.degree. C). This composition has a sufficient modulus to bind ophthalmic lenses to metal blocks during grinding processes. The composition also exhibits low melt viscosity and may be mechanically removed without leaving significant residue. Composition comprises a resin, a tackifier, a wax (generally with a molecular weight less than 600), and an optional stabilizer.

Hot melt adhesive composition that melts at relatively low temperatures

Rubber and vinyl articles such as gloves with improved slip coatings and processes for their production are provided by coating the outer and/or inner surfaces with either (1) a copolymer of at least one copolymerizable vinyl halide, at least one copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon and at least one copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a carboxyl or amido group, (ii) copolymer of at least one copolymerizable vinyl or vinylidene halide, acrylonitrile and at least one acryulic monomer, or mixtures of (i) and (ii). Articles having improved slip coatings

In the coating of rubber surfaces with adherent slip coatings the need for release agents is avoided by selecting as the slip coating a synthetic polymer latex composition consisting essentially of about 5 to 95% by weight of a film-forming, non-elastomeric synthetic polymer component (1) having an elongation of at least about 200% and about 5 to 95% of a normally solid, non-elastomeric, synthetic polymer component (2) exhibiting an elongation of below about 20% and a coefficient of friction of up to about 0.20, said slip coating having an elongation of at least about 200 up to 700%, a coefficient of friction of up to about 0.25 and a thickness of below about 0.005 inch.

Process for the production of rubber articles having improved slip

An article comprising a rubber surface provided with an adherent slip coating of a synthetic polymer latex composition consisting essentially of about 5 to 95% by weight of a film-forming, non-elastomeric synthetic polymer component (1) having an elongation of at least about 200% and about 5 to 95% of a normally solid, non-elastomeric, synthetic polymer component (2) exhibiting an elongation of below about 20% and a coefficient of friction of up to about 0.20, said slip coating having an elongation of at least about 200 up to 700%, a coefficient of friction of up to about 0.25 and a thickness of below about 0.005 inch.

Rubber articles having improved slip coatings

Rubber articles, such as surgeon's gloves, are provided with a synthetic resin slip coating by contacting the rubber surface with a synthetic resin latex composition. The slip coating is adherent to the rubber substrate and is very extensible without adverse effect. The synthetic resin slip coating includes from 5 to 90 percent by weight of a first resin copolymer component selected from the group consisting of vinyl chloride-alkyl acrylate copolymer, vinylidene chloride-alkyl acrylate copolymer, and vinyl acetate-alkyl acrylate copolymer, and correspondingly, from 95 to 10 percent by weight of a second resin copolymer component selected from the group consisting of vinyl chloride-vinyl ester copolymer, and vinylidene chloride-vinyl ester copolymer.
