The present invention provides a system () for humidification of a pressurized flow of breathable gas delivered to a patient, the system comprising; a ventilator () for generating a pressurized flow of breathable gas; a patient circuit () in fluid communication with the ventilator and connectable to the respiratory system of a patient; and an aerosol generator (). The patient circuit defines an internal space () for transporting the flow of breathable gas which internal space accommodates the outflow opening () of the aerosol generator. This enables to prevent so-called rainout and a relatively light weight portable system. The invention also relates to an insert () that is connectable to the patient circuit and that accommodates the aerosol generator.

System for humidification of a pressurized flow of breathable gas delivered to a patient

The invention describes a laser sensor module () for detecting ultra-fine particles () with a particle size of 300 nm or less, more preferably 200 nm or less, most preferably 100 nm or less, the laser sensor module () comprising: &#x2014;at least one laser () being adapted to emit laser light to at least one focus region in reaction to signals provided by at least one electrical driver (), &#x2014;at least one detector () being adapted to determine a self-mixing interference signal of an optical wave within a laser cavity of the at least one laser (), wherein the self-mixing interference signal is caused by reflected laser light reentering the laser cavity, the reflected laser light being reflected by a particle receiving at least a part of the laser light, &#x2014;the laser sensor module () being arranged to perform at least one self-mixing interference measurement, &#x2014;the laser sensor module () being adapted to determine a first particle size distribution function with a first sensitivity by means of at least one measurement result determined based on the at least one self-mixing interference measurement, the laser sensor module being further adapted to determine a second particle size distribution function with the second sensitivity, the second sensitivity being different from the first sensitivity, &#x2014;the at least one evaluator () being adapted to determine a particle measure of the particle size of 300 nm or less by subtracting the second particle size distribution function multiplied with a calibration factor q from the first particle size distribution function. The invention further describes a corresponding method and computer program product. The invention enables a simple and low-cost particle detection module or particle detector based on laser self-mixing interference which can detect particles with a size of 100 nm or even less.

Laser sensor for ultra-fine particle size detection

An integrated circuit sensor array includes a semiconductor substrate; an insulating layer over the substrate; and a first transistor on the insulating layer. The first transistor includes an exposed functionalized channel region in between a source region and a drain region for sensing an analyte in a medium. The integrated circuit sensor array also includes a second transistor formed on the insulating layer, where the second transistor includes an exposed channel region between source and drain regions for sensing a potential of the medium. Further, a voltage bias generator is conductively coupled to the semiconductor substrate for providing the transistors with a bias voltage, the voltage bias generator being responsive to the second transistor.

Integrated circuit with sensing transistor array, sensing apparatus and measuring method

A thermal flow sensor integrated circuit for sensing flow in a channel based on temperature measurements, the integrated circuit having a temperature sensing element () on a front side of the integrated circuit arranged to face the channel, and a bond pad () coupled electrically to the temperature sensing element, for making electrical contact off the integrated circuit, the bond pad being arranged to face away from the channel. By having the bond pad facing away from the channel, the space needed for the bond pad and any connections to it need not extend beyond the temperature sensing element and get in the way of the channel. Hence the temperature sensing element can be located closer to the channel or in the channel to enable measurements with better response time and sensitivity.

Thermal flow sensor integrated circuit with low response time and high sensitivity

The invention relates to a sensor () and a control unit () for cooperation with the sensor. The sensor () serves for measuring a velocity of a fluid () flowing through a channel (). The sensor () employs a thermal measuring principle, which measuring principle is robust regarding disturbances on the amount of power dissipated by the heating element (). A sensor receiver () is arranged for receiving an electromagnetic radiation generated by a control transmitter () comprised in a control () unit for cooperation with the sensor (). The electromagnetic radiation is employed for powering the heating element () which is arranged for heating the fluid. On the basis of a measurement signal generated by a transducer arrangement comprised in the sensor (), a control actuator () controls the velocity of the fluid. For this purpose a sensor transmitter () is arranged for transmitting the measurement signal to a control receiver ().
