Methods of implanting a prosthesis to repair a joint include exposing a first bone of the joint; resecting an end portion of the first bone to form a resected end defining a resection plane; forming a concavity in the resected end portion of the first bone using a shaping tool, the concavity extending at least through a full hemispherical arc; selecting a diameter of the prosthesis to be implanted; and implanting a prosthesis having the selected diameter in the concavity.

Various embodiments disclosed herein relate to stemmed and stemless humeral anchors for use in shoulder arthroplasty procedures. For example, the humeral anchor can include a first end, a second end, and an interior surface extending between the first end and the second end. The interior surface can be disposed about a recess disposed between the first end and the second end. The recess can be configured to secure a coupling of a shoulder articular body directly to the interior surface.

In various embodiments, a kit for shoulder surgery can include a partial reaming guide having a patient-matched surface shaped to conform to a scapula of a patient, the partial reaming guide configured to limit glenoid reaming about a reaming axis to only a portion of a glenoid; and an anchor peg channel guide having a patient-matched surface shaped to conform to a portion of the glenoid, the anchor peg channel guide having a channel offset from the reaming axis.

Apparatuses and methods for implanting glenoid prostheses

A glenoid implant for a shoulder prosthesis for implantation in the glenoid of a scapula according to embodiments of the present invention includes a central fixation element; an articular body configured for articulation with a humerus, the articular body comprising a plate, the plate comprising a side configured to be oriented toward the glenoid, the side comprising a central protrusion, wherein the central fixation element comprises a means for mechanically engaging with the central protrusion; a first means for locking rotation of the central fixation element with respect to the glenoid; and a second means for locking rotation of the articular body with respect to the glenoid.

A suture transport system is disclosure for placing a flexible member along a tunnel, the system including a means of transporting a flexible member along a tunnel from a first opening in the tunnel through to a second opening at an opposite end of the tunnel, such that the flexible member extends from both the first and second opening. The system also includes a means of capturing a portion of the flexible member at the second opening, to inhibit the flexible member from retracting into the tunnel second opening. The means of capturing includes an aperture for capturing the portion of the flexible member.

System and method for transporting suture

Methods of joint repair employing sutures and attached fixation devices are discussed. For example, a bone block graft procedure (e.g., Latarjet) is discussed which employs fixation devices to secure contact between graft surfaces of two bones. A suture construct, including a continuous suture loop routed through a first fastener, is secured to a first bone. Looped ends of the suture loop are passed through passageways formed in the two bones. The looped suture ends are further routed through a second fastener. The second fastener is mounted to the second bone and a sliding knot, formed in the looped suture ends, is advanced into contact with the second fastener. The suture is further tensioned using a tensioner device to secure the two bones together.

Surgical fastening

Methods for suspension fixation most applicable for a Latarjet of bone block procedure are performed using an open surgery with an anterior approach. The method passes endobuttons and sutures through the glenoid from posterior without the need of a posterior drill guide and disposable drill/sleeve. As an alternative embodiment, a passing pin with a slot at the advancing end may be used to further reduce surgical steps. The passing pin may be advanced and exit the muscle, and the suture loop may be directly attached to the pin rather than a secondary shuttle suture and then retrieved anteriorly.

Methods for passing a posterior button suture for medical procedures

A method of guiding a glenoid prosthesis is disclosed. The method includes preoperatively determining a position and an orientation of a guide feature of a glenoid guide of the present disclosure based on a scapula of a specific patient, and engaging the glenoid guide with the scapula; and inserting a pin having an axis through the guide feature to or through the scapula.

Shoulder patient specific instrument

Embodiments of the present invention include a convertible prosthesis that is capable of conversion from a humeral head replacement to a reverse reconstruction without any removal of parts integrated into the patient's bony anatomy (e.g. implant stems). A desired overall implant inclination angle may be achieved by matching various implant stems with various reverse inserts, thus permitting a resection surface to be matched with an implant stem selection while also permitting a desired overall implant inclination angle to be achieved through the selection of an appropriate insert.
