An electronic unit suitable for being positioned on an internal face of a tread of a tire with a view to measuring operating parameters of a vehicle wheel equipped with the tire. The electronic unit includes: a body, configured to be embedded into the thickness of the tire, in a housing provided for this purpose, and includes sensors dedicated to measuring operating parameters of the wheel, a head, arranged at one end of the body, including a circuit board for managing information output from the sensors of the body and a way of communicating with a central unit installed in the vehicle; a way for connecting the elements with which the body is equipped and the elements with which the head is equipped; and a way to supply the electronic unit with power.

Electronic unit for measuring operating parameters of a vehicle wheel and suitable for being positioned on the inner surface of a tread of a tire

A method and a device for determining loads on vehicle's wheels, each with a tire, is disclosed. A deformation measured value and a pressure measured value for each tire, and at least one acceleration measured value for the vehicle are detected. For the respective wheels, dynamic wheel loads are calculated according to a first model and static wheel loads are calculated according to a second model. The second model comprises at least one model parameter calculated by statistical analysis of the calculated dynamic wheel loads, the calculated static wheel loads, and the detected at least one acceleration measured value. The at least one acceleration measured value is redetected and the dynamic wheel loads are recalculated from the previously calculated static wheel loads and the at least one detected acceleration measured value according to the second model using the previously calculated at least one model parameter of the second model.

Method and device for determining wheel loads on wheels of a vehicle

A method for detecting wheel units mounted at wheels of a vehicle and for detecting wheel mounting positions belonging to each of the wheel units is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: positioning a mobile communication device at a predetermined start position with respect to the vehicle, moving the mobile communication device from the start position along a path around the vehicle, receiving RF signals from the wheel units and measuring the RF signal strengths thereof by the mobile communication device when moving along the path around the vehicle, performing an analysis of variations of the measured RF signal strengths of the received RF signals depending on the position of the mobile communication device along the path, identifying the wheel units and identifying the wheel mounting positions based on a result of the analysis.

A method for determining a wheel load acting on a vehicle wheel having a rim, a tire mounted on the rim and a sensor unit mounted at the wheel, includes determining a tire pressure of the tire using the sensor unit, determining a tire footprint of the tire using the sensor unit when the vehicle is driving, determining the wheel load based on a predetermined relationship between the wheel load, the tire pressure and the tire footprint, analyzing temporal variations of the tire pressure during a standstill of the vehicle for determining one or more parameters indicating temporal variations of the tire pressure. A change of the wheel load during the standstill is estimated based on the determined parameters. A method of determining the level of quality of a road from an electronic measurement unit mounted in a wheel of a motor vehicle traveling on the road. The electronic measurement unit includes at least one sensor able to measure the vibrations perceived by the tread of the tire of said wheel. The method includes measuring, using the sensor, the vibrations perceived by the tread of the tire of the wheel, calculating the strength of the vibrations measured at a predetermined vibrational frequency referred to as the distinguishing frequency, comparing the calculated strength with predetermined strength values contained in a table stored in a memory zone, which are characteristic of various road quality levels, and determining the level of quality of the road from the comparison made.
