The invention relates to an electrical connector (), adapted to be mated with a corresponding counter connector () in a mating direction (). The electrical connector () comprises at least one female contact terminal () extending at least partially perpendicular to the mating direction () in an extension direction (). The female contact terminal () comprises a distal portion () with two flexible spring arms () extending in extension direction (). An engagement portion () is formed between the flexible spring arms () and is adapted to engage a corresponding male terminal () of the counter connector (). The electrical connector () further comprises a connector housing () comprising at least one terminal cavity (), adapted to house the female contact terminal (). The terminal cavity () is adapted to essentially prevent movement of the female contact terminal () parallel to both, the mating direction () and the extension direction ().

Flat electrical connector for supplemental restraint system

An electrical connector assembly for airbag restraint systems comprising a first connector, comprising an elongated housing aligned along a longitudinal axis, a first connector's connection face facing perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, along a mating axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, said first connector comprising first locking means to lock the first connector to a second connector and second locking means that prevent the first locking means from releasing, the connector assembly further comprising the second connector, comprising a second connector's connection face surrounded at least partly by a shroud, facing along the mating axis towards the first connector's connection face. The shroud comprises third locking means that cooperate with the first locking means to lock the first connector to the second connector when mated along the mating axis. The extension of the mated connector assembly, along the mating axis, is smaller than the extension along the longitudinal axis and also smaller than the extension along a transverse axis arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and the mating axis.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector for airbag restraint systems comprises an elongated housing aligned on a longitudinal axis, surrounding at least one elongated terminal having a contact surface, a terminal support device, attached on the elongated housing and movable longitudinally along the elongated housing from an open position to a support position. The terminal support device increases the contact pressure of the contact surface to a counter-contact element when the connector is mated to a counter-connector and the terminal support device is in the support position.
