The techniques and systems herein are configured for dynamically calculating lane change trajectories. An offset that corresponds to an amount of asymmetry of a lane change trajectory (a zero-offset may be a symmetrical lane change trajectory) is determined for a lane change based on vehicle/driver preferences, road curvature, and/or road conditions. The offset is then used to calculate the lane change trajectory for the lane change, which is then provided to a vehicle system to execute the lane change according to the lane change trajectory. By dynamically calculating the lane change trajectory (e.g., actively determining the offset), lane change trajectories may be tailored to driver preferences, including asymmetry preferences and actions for different types of curves, as well as for road and weather conditions. Doing so, may not only improve driver experience due to better emulation of their behavior but also increase safety by decreasing unsafe lane change trajectories.

Dynamically calculating lane change trajectories

The techniques of this disclosure relate to a vehicle lateral-control system with adjustable parameters. The system includes a controller circuit that receives identity data from a driver-monitoring sensor indicating an identity of a driver of a vehicle. The controller circuit receives vehicle lateral-response data from vehicle sensors based on steering maneuvers performed as the vehicle operates under control of the driver. The controller circuit determines lateral-steering parameters of the vehicle based on the vehicle lateral-response data. The controller circuit adjusts lateral-control parameters of the vehicle based on the lateral-steering parameters. The controller circuit associates the adjusted lateral-control parameters of the vehicle with the identity of the driver. The controller circuit operates the vehicle according to the lateral-control parameters associated with the identity of the driver. The system can reproduce the driver's steering behavior while the vehicle is operated in an autonomous-driving mode.

Vehicle lateral-control system with adjustable parameters

The techniques of this disclosure relate to a vehicle lateral-control system with dynamically adjustable calibrations. The system includes a controller circuit that receives weather data for a geographic region traveled by a vehicle. The controller circuit receives image data from a camera of a roadway traveled by the vehicle in the geographic region. The controller circuit receives vehicle-state data from one or more vehicle sensors indicating an operating condition of the vehicle on the roadway in the geographic region. The controller circuit adjusts a calibration of vehicle lateral-control features based on the weather data, the image data, and the vehicle-state data. The controller circuit operates the vehicle on the roadway based on the adjusted calibration. The system can increase passenger comfort or reduce an error from a lane centerline when the vehicle is operated in an autonomous-driving mode, which can improve operational safety.

Automated driver assistance systems (ADAS) and methods that provide user-specific ADAS warnings each involve determining an identity of the driver of the vehicle, accessing a memory configured to store a set of user profiles, each user profile defining a set of ADAS warnings, identifying a target user profile based on whether the driver identity corresponds to any of the set of user profiles, including accessing one of the set of stored user profiles or creating and storing a new user profile, and, during a period after identifying the target user profile, updating the set of ADAS warnings defined by the target user profile based on the vehicle's operation and providing ADAS warnings based on the set of ADAS warnings defined by the target user profile.
