This invention provided an edible product having a plurality of adjacent extruded product portions comprising one or more of chocolate, baked or unbaked cereal-based composition, or cheese. The portions are connected to one another along their length by a frangible connecting portion. The invention also provides a method of manufacturing such a product. The method includes providing an extrusion die having a linear array of at least two interconnected openings therein; and extruding product portions through the die to produce the product. The product comprises at least one or more edible materials comprising: chocolate products, baked or unbaked cereal-based composition, or cheeses.

Edible product and method of manufacture

A packaging wrapper is made of material having inner and outer laminate structures bonded together. A peelable flap is defined in the wrapper by means of offset score lines in the laminate structures, the structures being bonded together in a marginal region between the score lines by means of a peelable adhesive. In one aspect of the invention, the score lines are formed using a pair of contra-rotating die cylinders positioned on opposite sides of the laminated film Each cylinder contacts a respective laminate structure and has a blade for forming a score line in that structure. In another aspect, the laminate structures are bonded together using a single peelable adhesive both within and outside of the marginal region. In a further aspect, the structures are not bonded together in at least part of the marginal region to provide a lifting tab for the flap.

Packaging

A package () is formed from a flexible laminated wrapper () having an outer laminate structure () and an inner laminate structure () and includes a tear strip () formed in the wrapper. The tear strip has an outer tear strip portion () defined between a pair of outer spaced lines of weakness () in the outer laminate structure. At least one inner line of weakness () is formed in the inner laminate structure offset from the outer lines of weakness. At least a part () of the tear strip defined in one of the outer and inner laminate structures is bonded to an overlapping region of the other of the outer and inner laminate structures in a peelable manner. An inner tear strip portion () may be defined in the inner laminate structure () between a pair of spaced inner lines of weakness ().

Packaging for a generally block shaped product () is made from a wrapper () of flexible material encasing the product. The wrapper has a foldable flap portion () adjacent an end of the package. The free edges () of the flap over-lap a further portion () of the wrapper and are bonded by means of a peelable and re- sealable adhesive (). The flap () extends fully across one face () of the package and at least partially down opposing sides to form a sealed and re-sealable closure for the package. The package can be formed using flow-wrap techniques and is particular suited for packaging chocolate bars and the like.

A packaging wrapper () is made of material () having inner () and outer () laminate structures bonded together. A peelable flap () is defined in the wrapper by means of offset score lines () in the laminate structures, the structures being bonded together in a marginal region between the score lines by means of a peelable adhesive (). A carton () is formed from a unitary blank of material folded to produce a hollow walled structure for encircling a main product (). The blank is also folded to produce at least one internal divider () which forms a support for holding the main product () in position in the structure and to define within the hollow walled structure an internal volume () for retaining a secondary item (). The internal divider () may extend transversely or longitudinally. Where the internal divider is aligned longitudinally of the housing, it may be parallel to a side wall of the carton or it may extend across a corner between two side walls. The internal divider may be provided by a pair of kick-ins. The carton () may be an Easter egg carton. Methods of forming and filling the carton are also described.

Carton, blank and method of packaging

A package () for packaging a food product is made from a sheet () of foldable material. The sheet () defines a base area on which a food product () may be positioned and three or more side wall regions () about the base area that are folded upwardly and inwardly to form a parcel for surrounding and containing a product positioned on the base area. The side wall regions () converge towards a point located substantially centrally above the base area and an external fin seal () is provided between each adjacent pair of side wall regions. The fin seals () may be formed by bonding at least part of the opposing inner surfaces of the material forming each fin seal together using a peelable adhesive.
