A system, method, and non-transitory computer readable medium for virtualizing battery in a personal mobile device or across a group of personal mobile devices controlled by a user are provided. The user specifies a set of power management policies for applications running in the personal mobile device(s). Battery usage per application is monitored and resources for the applications are scheduled based on the monitored battery usage and the power management policies.

A system for creating protected functional descriptions of integrated circuits provides encrypted gate delay information preventing deduction of gate function from gate delay but allowing simulation of the integrated circuit with accurate propagation delay calculation. Individual gate delay values may be modified so that they obscure actual gate delays but so that the modified individual gate delays total to equal the actual cumulative gate delay along a given data propagation path.

Migrating applications across a group of personal mobile devices based on battery usage

A system for creating protected functional descriptions of integrated circuits provides an encrypted functional description that allows the integrated circuit to be simulated with respect to producing outputs for given sets of inputs without identification of the constituent components of the integrated circuit such as the logical gates making up the integrated circuit. The encrypted functional description may include encrypted truth-tables describing the generic gates of the integrated circuit, the encrypted truth-tables securing the function of each logical gate by including multiple redundant table entries mapped to alias values of Boolean logical states and erroneous table entries.

A telephone subscriber having both a wireline and a cellular telephone can switch calls between these phones. A routing table identifies that a subscriber is entitled to this service, and a look up table maintains the telephone numbers of the two different telephones. Upon detection of a unique signal indicating a request for switching a call connected to one of the telephones to the other telephone, a connection is made to the other telephone, the two connections are bridged, and then the first connection is dropped. The routing table may be maintained in a central office and the look up table may be maintained in a mobile switching center or a fixed cellular mobility agent.

A method and apparatus provide decentralized prioritized scheduling of wireless access in a carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) wireless local area network (LAN) is presented. Prior to and during data packet transmissions, a device station in the CSMA/CA wireless LAN continuously monitors transmission traffic in the bandwidth medium of the wireless LAN to determine whether the delay associated with pre-transmission of a data packet, due to the collision avoidance protocol in the CSMA/CA wireless LAN, exceeds the time frame in which the device station necessarily must transmit the data packet. If the delay is too great for the type of data packet to be transmitted, the device station decreases the possible range of the back-off duration of the collision avoidance protocol. Thus, the station device can increase its transmission priority by decreasing the randomly selected back-off duration range of values.

Method and apparatus for decentralized prioritized scheduling in a CSMA/CA wireless system

The present invention discloses a method of improving the performance of a server enabled to permit connections to clients to persist for a duration equal to a timer value, such as Web servers utilizing HTTP/1.1. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, the server estimates the load on the server and uses the estimate to modify the timer value. The timer value can be chosen to balance the need to increase the throughput as seen by the clients and the server need to service the largest possible number of clients without running out of resources. The timer value can be set to a longer value when the server load is light and a shorter value when the server load is heavy. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the server dynamically selects the largest timer that guarantees that the server does not run out of resources under the current measured load.
