A sensor guide wire for an intravascular measurement of a physiological variable in a living body includes a sensor region in a distal part of the sensor guide wire, a sensor element arranged in the sensor region, a male connector at a proximal part of the sensor guide wire, a least one electrical micro-cable connecting the male connector to the sensor element, and an elongated guide wire body arranged between the sensor region and the male connector. The at least one electrical micro-cable extends essentially helically around the guide wire body along the length of at least a part of the guide wire.

A male connector for a sensor guide wire for intravascular measurements of physiological variables in a living body, and a method for producing said male connector. The male connector comprises a plurality of spaced apart conductive members, extending at least partially along the length of the male connector, and a plurality of conductive areas separated from each other by insulating areas, disposed along the male connector, wherein each of the conductive members are connected to a respective conductive area. The conductive members and the conductive and insulating areas are formed on a planar sheet of thin flexible insulating material, and the conductive members are provided on one surface of the sheet and the conductive areas are provided on the other surface of the sheet, wherein said planar sheet is adapted to be formed into said male connector such that said conductive member being arranged at the inner surface, and that said conductive and insulating areas being arranged at the outer surface of the male connector.

Male connector

The present invention relates to a measuring device, insertable into a living body. The device includes an elongated flexible member in the form of a thick-walled hollow tube with a proximal end and a distal end. The tube defines a central lumen with an inner wall. The lumen may contain a core and an insulating material provided between the core and the inner wall. The core may be made of an electrically conductive material and may be of essentially constant diameter over its entire length. Alternatively, the lumen may contain at least two electrical leads. An electrical sensor is attached to the distal end of the elongated flexible member and is electrically connected to the core.

Electrically conductive guide wire

There is a sensor guide wire () for intravascular measurements of physiological variables in a living body. The sensor guide wire () comprises at least two elongate sections, a first tubular elongate section () being tubular in the longitudinal direction of the sensor guide wire (), and a second elongate section () that is adapted to be inserted a predetermined distance () into said first tubular section (), a sensor element () provided in the distal part of said sensor guide wire (), for measuring the physiological variable and to generate a sensor signal in response to said variable, at least one signal transmitting cable connected to the sensor element () to transmit sensor signals to a male connector provided in the proximal part of said sensor guide wire (). The tubular section () is provided with at least one through-going opening () in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the guide wire () and positioned a second predetermined distance () from one end of the tubular section (), wherein the guide wire () comprises a locking member () to be fitted into the opening () in order to join the sections () together when the second elongate section () is inserted into the tubular section ().

Joining of sensor guide wire

Sensor guide wire for intravascular measurements of a physiological variable in a living body, comprising a core wire running along at least a part of the sensor guide wire and a sensor element arranged in a jacket in a sensor region of the sensor guide wire. The jacket is tubular and is provided with a jacket wall and a portion of the core wire that extends longitudinally along the sensor region forms part of the wall of the jacket, in order to provide more space in the jacket.

Sensor guide wire

A guide wire assembly includes a proximal end portion, a distal portion comprising a coil, a hollow stranded wire extending towards the distal portion, and a core wire. The guide wire assembly is characterized in that a proximal tube is provided, which extends from the proximal end portion to a proximal end of the hollow stranded wire such that the hollow stranded wire is directly joined to the proximal tube. The core wire extends into the distal portion and does not extend into the proximal tube. An entire length of the hollow stranded wire is in a range of 7.5 to 22.5% of an entire length of the guide wire assembly.

Sensor and guide wire assembly

During use there is a risk that a male connector for a guide wire is bent. With the present male connector () more material with high modulus of elasticity can be provided inside the male connector (), which makes the male connector () more bending resistant. The male connector () comprises a core wire (), a plurality of conductive members () spaced apart longitudinally along said core wire (), a plurality of conductors () disposed along the core wire (), each of the conductors () being connected to a respective conductive member (). The core wire () has such a shape that least one longitudinal cavity is provided, which longitudinal cavity remains substantially intact when the male connector () is bent, thereby protecting the conductors (), which are disposed in said cavity, from being damaged.

Bending resistant male connector for a guide wire

During use there is a risk that a male connector for a guide wire is bent. With the present male connector () more material with high modulus of elasticity can be provided inside the male connector (), which makes the male connector () more bending resistant. The male connector () comprises a core wire (), a plurality of conductive members () spaced apart longitudinally along said core wire (), a plurality of conductors () disposed along the core wire (), each of the conductors () being connected to a respective conductive member (). The connector () has such a configuration that the conductors () are protected from damage at the location where the conductors () connect to the conductive members ().

The invention relates to a torque device for a sensor guide wire having a sensor provided at a distal portion and a male connector provided at the proximal end, which torque device comprises a grip body and a cap adapted to be joined to the grip body, and a number of chuck segments provided on the cap or the grip body, wherein the torque device is a one-way device defining an insertion direction for the sensor guide wire and wherein the chuck segments have free ends which are directed in the insertion direction.

Sensor and guide wire assembly () for intravascular measurement of physical variables inside a living body and comprises a proximal end portion () and a sensor element (), which is located in a distal portion of the sensor and guide wire assembly (), and is characterized in that a proximal tube () is provided, which extends from said proximal portion () to a proximal end of a hollow stranded wire (), which extends to the distal end portion wherein the sensor element () is located.

Expandable stent for insertion into a body passage having a mesh structure of interconnecting portions () joined together by joining portions (). The stent, when inserted into said body passage, is adapted to dissolve into smaller parts, wherein the joining portions dissolve faster than the interconnecting portions. In a preferred embodiment the joining portions are made from a first material and the interconnecting portions are made from a second material different from said first material, wherein the first material dissolves faster than said second material.

Biodegradable stent

A sensor and guide wire assembly includes a core wire having a distal end, a proximal end, and a plurality of sections of different cross sections and thereby different flexibilities. At least one of the core wire sections has an enlarged portion with a sensor receptacle therein. The assembly also includes a tube that encloses the core wire over at least a fraction of its length such that the core wire extends out from a distal end of the tube. The tube is configured to enable the sensor and guide wire assembly to be inserted into an artery and to be passed to a measurement site inside a patient's body. The assembly further includes a sensor mounted in the sensor receptacle of the enlarged portion of the core wire. A first coil is arranged to enclose a first portion of the core wire extending out from the distal end of the tube, and the first coil is located nearer to the proximal end of the core wire than the sensor. A second coil is arranged to enclose a second portion of the core wire extending out from the distal end of the tube. The second coil is located nearer to the distal end of the core wire than the sensor.
