A laundry treatment apparatus, in particular a dryer or a washing machine having a dryer function, and a method for operating the apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus includes a laundry treatment chamber () for treating laundry using process air (A), a blower () for circulating the process air (A) within the laundry treatment chamber (); and at least one temperature sensor (). The method includes: detecting by said at least one temperature sensor () at least one temperature signal indicative of the ambient temperature of the laundry treatment apparatus, selecting a predetermined speed profile for operating the laundry treatment chamber () or the blower () in dependency of the at least one temperature signal detected by said at least one temperature sensor (), and starting to operate the laundry treatment chamber () or the blower () in a laundry drying cycle by applying or executing the selected predetermined speed profile to the laundry treatment chamber () or to the blower () during the drying cycle in dependency of the at least one detected temperature signal.

Laundry treatment apparatus and method for operating a laundry treatment apparatus

A method is provided for controlling a motor speed (v) of a motor () in a laundry dryer during a drying cycle, which motor () is provided for driving a laundry drum () and an air stream fan () of the laundry dryer. The drying cycle is subdivided into a first part and a second part. During the first part of the drying cycle the motor speed (v) takes a value of a first predetermined motor speed (v). During the second part of the drying cycle the motor speed (v) takes a value of a second predetermined motor speed (v). The value of the second predetermined motor speed (v) is higher than the value of the first predetermined motor speed (v) and allows laundry tumbling inside the drum (). The drying cycle changes from the first part to the second part, when laundry dryness () of laundry inside the laundry drum () has reached a predetermined value.

Method for controlling a motor of a laundry dryer

A tumble dryer () is provided having: a laundry drum () rotatably supported in a casing () and suitable to receive laundry to be dried. A lint filter assembly () can be housed in a housing () provided in the casing () so that, when the lint filter assembly () is placed in the housing (), it intercepts a flow of air exiting the laundry drum (). A humidity sensor system retrieves information about the actual humidity of the laundry in the drum () and has at least a pair of electrodes () positioned such that the laundry in the drum () can come into contact with the electrodes (). A control unit () controls the operations of the tumble dryer; and an electric circuit () transmits a signal obtained from the electrodes () to the control unit (). The electric circuit () has at least one electrical connector () arranged in such a way to electrically connect the electrodes () to the control unit () when the filter assembly () is correctly positioned in the housing () and not to connect the electrodes () to the control unit () when the filter assembly () is not positioned or not correctly positioned in the housing ().

Tumble dryer

A home laundry drier () includes a laundry drum () which is located inside a casing () to rotate about an longitudinal axis (A), and a closed circuit hot-air generator () provided with: an air recirculating conduit () connected to laundry drum (); a centrifugal fan () and heat-pump means (). The heat pump means () includes first () and second air/refrigerant heat exchangers () located in the air recirculating conduit () to cool the airflow coming out from the laundry drum, and respectively, to heat the airflow returning back into laundry drum (). The home laundry drier () further includes an electric motor () designed to simultaneously rotate both centrifugal fan () and the laundry drum () through transmission system means (); and inverter means () controlling the electric motor () and configured to receive a predetermined speed which is associated to a nominal airflow rate within the air recirculating conduit () and to a nominal drum speed. The electric motor () is controlled so that the output motor speed is maintained substantially equal to a predetermined speed, independently of decreasing of the airflow rate caused by clogging-up of particles within the first () and/or second air/refrigerant heat exchangers () of the heat-pump means ().
